FBC Carthage E-News for July 5, 2021

 FBC Carthage E-News

July 5, 2021

Good Morning,

As we celebrate Independence Day and enjoy, for many of us, a day off from work, let us remember to thank God for our country and the freedoms we have in the United States of America.  May we never take for granted our freedom of religion, freedom to assemble, freedom of speech, and many other freedoms we have as Americans.  This past year has seen great challenges and unrest across our nation on many different fronts.  We need the Lord as individuals and as a nation, now as much as ever in our history.  Take a few minutes today to pray specifically for our nation and seek God’s forgiveness, direction and blessing.  God bless the United States of America.

Thank you to all who served this past week at the Smith County Fair Ministry Booth.  I always enjoy the opportunities the fair booth gives to interact and visit with many different people in our community.  Matthew 9:36 says, But when He (Jesus) saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd.”  May we continually find ways to be out among the people of our community that we may have Jesus’ heart of compassion and concern.

We have a great opportunity to reach out to our family, friends, and neighbors as we have a two-day revival, July 18-19 with Pastor Elijah Wanje from Ridgeways Baptist Church in Nairobi, Kenya.  We had Pastor Wanje scheduled to come last year and then COVID prevented his travel to us.  I look forward to welcoming our friend and several from his church as they share with us in these special services.  Help spread the news and invite people to attend with you.

Children’s Church for 4 year olds through 1st grade is offered each Sunday during the 10 AM morning service.  Children’s Church meets in the Preschool area following Sunday School, around 9:45 AM..

We had a 37 people plus one dog at the Defeated Creek Campground service yesterday.  It is a blessing to have multiple outlets to share the good news on Jesus Christ.  I appreciate this ongoing ministry of the New Salem Baptist Association.

Speaking of the New Salem Baptist Association, please pray this week for Bro. Marty and Sheila Dodge as they lead a team from the Association to Guatemala.  They will be conducting medical clinics and visiting in homes, sharing the love and gospel of Jesus.  This is our first mission trip since the pandemic.  May we see many more mission opportunities open up in the coming months.

We have a second order of Summer mission shirts available to pick up in the Connection Point.  I am enjoying several people asking about the design on the front and being able to share the source of our peace in Jesus.  The verse on the back of the shirt, Romans 5:1, is a great start to share the peace we have in Jesus, “we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.  As you wear your shirt, be ready to share the hope and peace you have in Jesus.

The RightNow Media video series of the week is “7 Challenges Men Encounter.”  Daily it's getting more challenging to be a man. Our present culture is redefining manhood and confusing men in their pursuit of Biblical manhood. But how will you respond? What will you say and do when the world demands a response? Discover how to respond by rejecting passivity, accepting responsibility, leading courageously, loving unconditionally, living with integrity, serving humbly, and investing eternally. Let others see masculinity and manhood through the lens of Christ in your life with these seven characteristics and become a better man, husband, father, and leader.  Check out the 1-minute trailer at:  https://www.rightnowmedia.org/Content/Series/371860?episode=Trailer
