FBC Carthage E-News for August 3, 2020

FBC Carthage E-News

August 2, 2020

Good Morning,

This week our schools are scheduled to start back, however there is much discussion on what is the right thing to do with the continued rise in cases of COVID-19.  Please pray for the Smith County School Board as they meet tonight to discuss this pressing issue.  Pray for teachers, students, and parents as they are unsure of the coming weeks.  This new school year is filled with many questions.   When you begin to express your opinion about the challenges for this school year, stop and pray for all those involved.  They need our prayers.

As you are praying, please pray for our church and church leaders as we seek to lead in this uncertain time.  We need each other as a church family during these days.  We are focusing on re-gathering the flock of God in the services, while at the same time maintaining safety precautions such as have social distancing measures, cleaning between services, no hand-shaking, and masks  being worn by those who choose to do so.   If you still are feeling  concerned to return to in-person services just yet, please remember to Live Stream with us each week in the Digital Church Community services on fbcarthage YouTube Channel and the First Baptist Church Carthage Facebook page.

I remind you that this is election week.  If you have not voted early, remember to vote this Thursday, August 6.  Do not leave this election, or any election to others.  Get out and Vote!

This week we are beginning two new times of corporate prayer as we respond to the growing challenges in our county, our nation, and our lives.  We will resume Wednesday night prayer time during the last 15 minutes of the regular evening service that starts at 6:30 PM.  We will also begin a morning prayer time on Tuesdays at 7:00 AM in the Sanctuary.  We will maintain safety precautions and social distancing in both prayer times.  Everyone is encouraged to come together and pray for the needs we are facing.

We will resume the monthly business meetings on Wednesday, August 12 at the end of the 6:30 PM evening service.  We will share reports and bring recommendations to the church for approval.

Ladies, the Women on Mission Group will meet on Monday, August 10, 6:30 PM in the Christian Life Center.  All ladies are invited to attend.

The Association Fellowship Revival will be held August 16-19.  Here is the revival schedule for our cluster of churches:

The RightNow Video Series of the Week is entitled, “What to Do When You Are Grieving.”  Grief is an experience that shocks and overwhelms the system, and often the first response is denial. The process of grieving begins with overcoming that initial shock and recognizing that grief is what you're experiencing. Once you put words to it, you can move to the other essential stages such as sadness and letting go. Watch to learn more from Dr. Henry Cloud about the process of grief and what we will need along the way.
