FBC Carthage E-News for August 10, 2020

FBC Carthage E-News

August 10, 2020

Good Morning,

With all that has happened in the past five months it is hard to remember the original plans for the year.  This week was to be our trip to Giribe, Kenya and the dedication of the new church building there.  We make plans but it is all in the Lord’s timing.  Many things have had to be cancelled and/or rescheduled due to COVID-19.  May we be reminded that in this life, all plans are tentative and subject to change.  That is why we wait on the Lord, trust in the Lord, and know He will bring His plans to pass.  Pray for our friends in Kenya this week as they are struggling with the restrictions of COVID-19 and the effects on their lives.

Pray for our teachers, students, and administrators as they begin their first full week of the new school year.

Ladies, the Women on Mission Group will meet tonight, Monday, August 10, 6:30 PM in the Christian Life Center.  All ladies are invited to attend.

Have you picked up your Mission/Ministry T-Shirt for this year?  We have several left to distribute.  If you haven’t gotten your t-shirt, text SHIRT to (615) 395-6161.  Click the link and fill out the connect card with your t-shirt size.  We will work out the pick-up or drop=off information.

Please continue to pray for our church and leadership as we seek God’s direction and timing in this time of uncertainty.  As we focus on re-gathering the flock of God in the services, we are maintaining safety precautions such as have social distancing measures, cleaning between services, no hand-shaking, and masks being worn by those who choose to do so.   If you still are feeling concerned to return to in-person services just yet, please remember to Live Stream with us each week in the Digital Church Community services on fbcarthage YouTube Channel and the First Baptist Church Carthage Facebook page.

Congratulations to Judge Michael Collins in being elected as Circuit Court Judge.  Judge Collins has served our county well as General Sessions Judge and I am confident he will be a blessing to the Circuit Court in five of the surrounding counties, including Smith.

I remind you of the special times of corporate prayer we have this week in response to the growing challenges in our county, our nation, and our lives.  We will meet on Tuesdays at 7:00 AM in the Sanctuary and during the 6:30 PM Wednesday night service.  We will maintain safety precautions and social distancing in both prayer times.  Everyone is encouraged to pray each day in your personal and family devotions, as well as come together corporately and pray for the needs we are facing.

We will resume the monthly business meetings on Wednesday, August 12 at the end of the 6:30 PM evening service.  We will share reports and bring recommendations to the church for approval.

The RightNow Video Series of the Week is entitled, “The Power of Knowing God.”  This exciting video Bible Study is led by Dr. Tony Evans, who believes seeking to know God is life’s greatest purpose. In this practical, six-session video series, he shares strategies and skills for how you can live victoriously as a child of God.  Your connection with God can be so much more than going to church, reading the Bible, and attending study groups. Using in-depth scriptural studies alongside stories from his own life, Dr. Evans will equip you with the tools you need for pursuing an authentic and life-transforming relationship with your Savior.  Check out the first 10-minute video that asks the most important question you can ever answer:  “Do You Know Him?”  Check it out:  https://www.rightnowmedia.org/Content/Series/387039?episode=1
