Good Morning,
In the message on Sunday
morning, “A Life-Changing Experience,” I gave everyone a challenge to share
your testimony with someone this week.
It could be personal sharing with a friend or family member. It could be written or a video posted on
Facebook. There are many ways to share
your story with others. Here are some
pointers to help you prepare to share your testimony based on the Apostle Paul’s
example in Acts 9; 22; and 26.
Before I Accepted Christ (or gave Him complete
control)
·
What was my life like that will relate most to
the non-Christian?
·
What did my life revolve around the most?
What did I get my security or happiness from? (The non-Christian is
relying on something external to give him happiness)
·
How did those areas begin to let me down?
How I Received Christ (or gave Him complete
control)
·
When was the first time I heard the gospel? (Or
when was I exposed to dynamic
Christianity)
·
What were my initial reactions?
·
When did my attitude begin to turn around?
Why?
·
What were the final struggles that went through
my mind just before I accepted
Christ?
·
Why did I go ahead and accept Christ?
After I Accepted Christ (or gave Him complete
control)
·
Specific changes and illustrations about the
changes Christ has made:
·
Why am I motivated differently?
·
How has life changed since following Jesus as
Savior and Lord
Guilt Forgiveness
Strife Peace
Fear of death Assurance of life
Emptiness Fulfillment
Rebellion Freedom
Insecurity/worry/fear Security
Loneliness Friendship/ Love
This week our teachers go
back for in-service preparation as they anticipate school starting the
following week. Please be in prayer for
our teachers, administrators, and students as they begin a new year filled with
many questions. When you begin to talk
about the challenges for this school year, pause and pray for all those
involved. They need our prayers.
Just as a reminder, early
voting continues this week though Saturday, August 1 and election day will be
Thursday, August 6. I voted last week at
the Turner Building and simply walked in (with a mask) and voted within 3-5
minutes. Do not leave the election of
our officials to others. Vote!
Bro. Matt and I had lunch
with Zeke and Layne Tomaselli and their sons last week. They have returned to Hilo, Hawaii where they
serve in Ohana Church. Here is a short
greeting form Bro. Zeke: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bl-AZyogk4o
Again, I remind everyone
that the four weekly services are open for in-person attendance. We are focusing on re-gathering the flock of
God in the services. Several safety
precautions are being used such as have social distancing measures, cleaning
between services, and masks being worn
by those who choose to do so. If you
feel concerned to return to in-person services just yet, please remember to Live
Stream with us each week in the Digital Church Community services on fbcarthage
YouTube Channel and the First Baptist Church Carthage Facebook page.
The Church Leadership Team
will meet Sunday, August 2 at 3:00 PM in the Christian Life Center and the
Deacons will meet at 4:00 PM in the Christian Life Center.
Check out last week’s Children’s Virtual Adventure
Club. “Go Undercover!” It
ties in veryt well with the message on Sunday morning, “A Life-Changing
Experience.” Take time to watch this
video and complete the challenge with your children and grandchildren. The final episode will be posted on the First
Baptist Church Carthage Facebook page tomorrow.

The RightNow Video Series of
the Week is entitled, “Sharing Life.” The prospect of evangelism scares many
of us. We know that we should tell others about Jesus, but don't always feel
comfortable doing so. Pete Briscoe, Senior Pastor of Bent Tree Bible Church in
Carrollton Texas, teaches this five session series about sharing the gospel by
sharing our lives. In it, he challenges Christians to begin evangelism with
relationships, and encourages us that every believer has been equipped by
God to share the gospel fearlessly and effectively.
Remember, you have to
sign up to be able to view the resources at RightNow Video. Simply go to: https://www.rightnowmedia.org/Account/Invite/cfbc.
