FBC Carthage E-News
February 17, 2020
Today is my granddaughter,
Carolina’s 3rd Birthday. Birthdays
are a reminder of the special people in our lives. Birthdays also remind us of the passing of
time and the importance of making the most of our time. Young adults, median adults, and senior
adults are all reminded to make the most of time. Do those things you have been planning. Mend those fences you have down in your
life. Spend time with the people closest
to you. Birthdays are for celebration
but they are also reminders that the important things in life are not things;
they are people. Send a note. Make a call. Visit a loved one today.
We received a special
offering for the church in Giribe, Kenya at the end of the service yesterday. This is the church we helped start last year
during our mission trip with Ridgeways Baptist Church in Nairobi. This offering will go toward the construction
of a building for the new church. The
anticipated total for a block building is $25,000. We will hold the offering open through the
first week in March for others to contribute to this work. Our plans will be to dedicate the building
in our return mission trip in August.
A new series will begin
this Sunday, February 23 entitled, “Knowing Christ.” We will explore the “I Am” statements of
Jesus to better learn who He is and who He claimed to be. This series will lead us into the celebration
of the Resurrection on Easter Sunday. Invite
family and friends to join us each Sunday as we focus on knowing Christ.
Our Spring Revival will be
April 26-29 with Pastor Elijah Wanje from Ridgeways Baptist Church in Nairobi,
Kenya. Make your plans for this awesome
week of services as we reachout into our community with the Gospel of Jesus
Christ.
The RightNow Video of
the Week is “The Parable of the Good Samaritan.” Set in the hills of Judea, this 14 minute
video explores a familiar parable told by Jesus which challenges Believers to
be king and have compassion on those around us in need. Tying into the message from yesterday, may we
learn to be that good neighbor, that loving neighbor and reach out with the
love of Jesus to the hurting around us.
