Happy New Year!

The New Year has begun.  May the lord use us as a church in a great way in this first year of a new decade.   The choices we make to serve Him and the plans we put in motion will make a difference in our walk and impact for the kingdom.  As we shared in the message Sunday morning, let’s redeem the time, make the most of our time.  There is a community to care for and a world to reach with the Gospel of Christ.  This is the decade of destiny as we faithfully serve Jesus.

The RightNow Media video of the week in entitled “The Time-Starved Marriage.”  After resolving communication meltdowns, finding time together is the number one relational need of most couples. Where does time go? We try to make it. Save it. Seize it. Buy it. And borrow it. And yet time continues to elude too many couples.  The moments you miss together are irreplaceable; gone forever.   In this six-session series, relationship experts Drs. Les and Leslie Parrott will help you better manage the priceless resource of time. They will show you how to reclaim the time you’ve been missing and how to maximize the moments you have together. This is not about being more productive, but about being more connected.  Take time to build your marriage.  Check out the first video in this series at:

The online group will provide the daily readings online, devotional videos of each book of the Bible, and opportunity to comment on your readings with the group. The readings began on January 1, 2020 but you can join us right where we are.  Join the reading group for a great journey in God’s word, together.

January is Sanctity of Human Life month.  This year, in honor and thanksgiving for our life, we are collecting a special offering for the Pregnancy Help Center of Smith County.  The center is located at 108 College Avenue West.  This special offering is in the form of a baby bottle bank.  Pick up a baby bottle in the Connection Point, fill it with coins and/or paper money, and bring it back to church on or before January 26.  This is a life promoting, God honoring ministry in our community.

January is also Make Your Will and Estate Planning month. We will welcome Bill Gruenewald, President of the Tennessee Baptist Foundation, as our special guest speaker on January 12 in the 10:45 AM service.  The Foundation’s purpose is to assist and guide individuals and families with faith-based stewardship and estate planning. The Foundation also works to assist churches with faith-based information and guidance for short-term finance management to long-term building and growth needs.  The New Salem Association Ray McCall Fund is managed by the Foundation and has given thousands of dollars each year to mission teams from our county.

Listed at the end of this E-News are many of the mission and special event dates for your calendar.  2020 is going to be a great year as we serve the Lord together.

Have a blessed week,
