FBC Carthage E-News for July 1, 2019

FBC Carthage E-News
July 1, 2019

Good morning,

Happy 4th of July Week!

This is an important week in the history of our nation as we remember and celebrate the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the birth of the United States of America.  This would be a great time to pause and pray for America.

Pray a prayer of thanksgiving for this nation.  The Lord has blessed us and He has blessed through us.  Many great mission efforts, humanitarian efforts, and help to others around the globe have gone out to the lost, hurting, and destitute around the world.

Pray for the many challenging needs in our nation.  I read this article from James Dobson and realized the human needs that are presently going on at our southern border.  https://www.drjamesdobson.org/about/july-newsletter-2019

Pray for the needs around us, closer to home.  I am saddened by the hurtful things being said of our city and county leaders in this time when we need to be working together and praying for wisdom and God’s guidance.  Let us be people who are quick to pray and slow to complain and condemn.

Pray for all our elected officials, our military, and all who serve us in locally and nationally.
There are many needs in our nation but we serve the One, True God who has instructed us as Believers in Jesus, His people that in times of crises, we are “to humble ourselves and pray, and seek His face, and turn from our wicked ways.”  Jesus is the answer for our world today.  He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

Happy 4th of July!  Happy birthday to the United States of America.

The BIG event for this week is the Smith County Fair.  FBC Carthage will have a ministry booth each night at the fair from 5:30-8:30 PM.  Plan to wear your ministry/mission t-shirt and serve at least one night in the ministry booth.  We will hand out water, sno-cones, and information from the church.  This year we have stencils to help us with face painting.  There will also be a Study Bible give-a-way each evening.  We will be in the large community tent.  Each night will be hosted by a different Sunday School class:
Monday       Jim Broyles’ Class
Tuesday      Cindy Dowell’s Class and Samantha Upchurch’s Class
Wednesday  Youth and College Classes
Thursday     Church-wide Night
Friday          Stephen Russel’s Class
Saturday      Brad Tackett’s Class
Thank you to all who came out and served at the Lancaster Patriotic Parade.  This was the first time I had attended and was surprised by the large crowd of people.  We had children on the inflatables every minute and gave away over 100 cotton candy sticks.  It was a fun evening as we served in a neighboring community.

The RightNow Media video series for this week is “Wild Places” with Pastor George DeJong.  Whether it's the "iron-smelting furnace" of Egypt or the "vast and dreadful wilderness," God shapes his people in extraordinary situations and circumstances. C.S. Lewis' description is apt: "he is good...but his is not tame." Filmed on location in the Middle East this series will transform your understanding of God and challenge you to be a bolder follow of Jesus.
Join pastor and teacher George DeJong as he leads you to a deeper understanding and love of the Bible, through his teachings in Egypt, Jordan, and Israel. Presenting new scriptural insights, George will give you "eyes to see and ears to hear" as he presents God's love for you and His desire for your life.

Don’t miss out on this free resource made possible as a gift from FBC Carthage.  You can also invite your family and friends to receive these videos.   If you haven’t signed up for RightNow Media you can simply go to https://www.rightnowmedia.org/Account/Invite/cfbc.  All you have to do is sign up and watch.  Sign up today!

Pray for Christy Dyer, our ministry partner in New York City as she gets married on Thursday, July 4!

Have a blessed week,
Bro. Tim
