FBC Carthage E-News
January 28, 2019
One of our Children’s
Sunday School classes were all pouting and frowning when I looked in
yesterday. Then they broke out into a
huge laugh. Seems one of our children,
Titus Russell has a super power which makes people smile. That made me smile. What a perfect super power for a Christian to
have, that when you come into a place people begin to smile. May we be so filled with the Holy Spirit that
we bring joy to each person and put a smile on each face, including our
own. Titus’ super power reminded me of
this video that will make you laugh, guaranteed. Check it out:

One last reminder
this year to make, review, and/or, revise your will. A will
directs the distribution of assets, cares for your loved ones, and pre-determines
the ongoing care for children. Don’t let
January pass without getting your most basic paperwork in order. January is “Make Your Will Month.”
We are collecting coins,
bills, and checks for two more months to fill baby bottles for the work of the
Smith County Pregnancy Help Center.
Bring them back, filled by Sunday, February 10 as we partner with the
Pregnancy Help Center at 108 College Avenue W to provide encouragement,
resources, and support for expectant women and families. If you would like to know more about their
services and volunteer opportunities, contact the Director, Alicia Hoffman at
615 281-8054.
We are making plans for
the mission trip to Kenya, May 29-June 14 to work with Pastor Elijah Wanje and
Ridgeways Baptist Church in starting a new church in the western side of Kenya,
near Lake Victoria. Please contact Bro.
Tim Frank this week for more information and to be a part of this team.
Remember to pick up your
copy of the Bible Pathways Reading Guide for February in the Front Foyer or the
Connection Point.
The Church Council met
yesterday and worked on updating the 2019 Church Calendar. The calendar is available on the church
website www.fbccarthage.com under
events or go directly to http://www.fbccarthage.com/events/
Please pray for Bro. Marty
Dodge, our Director of Missions and member of FBC Carthage. He is leading a group to Israel in three
weeks and has been completely down in his back for the past three days. Pray for healing and strength for Bro.
Marty.
Have a blessed week,
Bro. Tim

The Upper
Cumberland Human Resources “Meals on Wheels” program is needing volunteers to
deliver meals on week days. If you can volunteer as little as one day a month
or as much as five days a week, the program can use you. This is a great
opportunity to minister to the people of Smith County and be a light in a
person’s day. For more information contact the church office.
