FBC Carthage E-News for February 4, 2019

FBC Carthage E-News
February 4, 2019

This is the month we focus on love and the expression of that love to those around us.  Love is to be the over-riding characteristic in our lives as Christians.  In fact, Jesus says in John 13:35 that the way people would know we are His followers is by the way we love one another.  God is the supreme example of loving others as He gave His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for the sins of the world.  Again Jesus says in John 15:13, “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.”   May this week, this month, this year, may we be known for our love by the ways we “lay down our lives” for others.  Express your Christianity this week by the way you love and care for others.  Follow Jesus’ example.  Be  like Christ.

Check out is a moving message from Billy Graham, preached June 3, 1973, to some 1.1 million at Yoido Plaza in Seoul, South Korea.  His entire life was given sharing the love of God to the masses around this globe.  Read it here:   https://billygraham.org/decision-magazine/may-2018/the-love-of-god/

Here is a favorite video from Billy Graham on God’s love you can share with your friends online:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bt1sps2T800&list=RDBt1sps2T800&start_radio=1&t=1

One tangible way we can show our love to our community is through our partnership with the Smith County Pregnancy Help Center.  This Sunday, February 10 will be our Baby Bottle Collection so fill your bottles with coins, bills, and checks.  Bring them with you and place them on the table in the front of the Sanctuary.  This ministry reaches out to expectant mothers and families with the love of Jesus.  They are located at 108 College Avenue W and provide encouragement, resources, and support.  If you would like to know more about their services and volunteer opportunities, contact the Director, Alicia Hoffman at 615 281-8054.  We will also receive a special offering for the Center to allow those to give who didn’t receive a baby bottle.

Have a blessed week,
Bro. Tim
