FBC Carthage E-News for December 17, 2018

FBC Carthage E-News
December 17, 2018

This is the season of special services at FBC Carthage as well as many churches across our county.  These special services are a blessing to attend and a wonderful opportunity to invite family and friends to join you.  People will attend with you if you will invite them.  Here are the remaining special Christmas services and activities are coming up:
December 23 @ 10:45 AM  Christmas Sunday Service
          December 23 @ 5:00 PM            Shut-In Services
December 24 @ 5:00 PM            Christmas Eve Candlelight Service

Speaking of special services, thanks goes to the Sanctuary Choir and all who made this past Sunday’s service such a blessing.  I enjoy the choir sharing their Christmas Cantata and the message of hope and joy it brings.  If you missed the service you can catch it on the First Baptist Church Carthage Facebook page.

This is the big push for the Lottie Moon Offering for International Missions.  Our 2018 goal is $15,000.  I encourage you to make a special gift this Sunday, in addition to your regular tithes and offerings.  The entire offering given this Sunday, December 23 will go to send the message of Jesus around the world.  Give generously.  As I have encouraged in the past, make your best gift, your largest gift, your greatest gift to the One whose birthday we are celebrating, Jesus Christ.  Happy Birthday, Jesus!  Here are the stories of several of our missionaries serving around the world:  www.imb.org/lottie-moon-christmas-offering-resources

We are planning a church-wide trip to Israel, September 15-24, 2019 and I want you to go with me.  FBC Carthage will join with Upper Helton Baptist in Alexandria and Stevens Street Baptist in Cookeville to promote the trip.  The three Pastors, myself, Jimmy Arms, and Scott Parkison will be co-leading the group.  The details, price, itinerary, and registration are all located at www.go-yael.com/sep2019/Use the password   sep    to check out the information.  Fran and I are going on this exact trip in January to experience the Holy Land and prepare for our trip in September.  I encourage you to pray about taking this trip of a lifetime and walk where Jesus actually walked.

In this season of celebrating the birth of a baby, it is with great joy I share the news that Nashville, Tennessee is now the largest US city that is abortion-free.  The last abortion clinic has closed its doors in Nashville!  Here is an online news story about this important milestone in making all of Tennessee abortion-free.   https://www.lifenews.com/2018/12/11/nashville-becomes-largest-abortion-free-city-in-u-s-after-planned-parenthood-stops-doing-abortions/

If you know of someone struggling with an unplanned pregnancy, we have a strong, Christian-based Pregnancy Help Center right here in Carthage at 108 College Avenue, W.  They are opened Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays to assist women and families with life-affirming information and encouragement. This week, pray for our local students as they finish up their classes before Christmas break.

Have a blessed week,
Bro. Tim
