Happy Thanksgiving!
This is a very special
week as we celebrate Thanksgiving.
Families and friends will gather for a wonderful meal and share the many
things they have to be thankful. As we
shared last night in the Church-wide Thanksgiving Dinner the things we have to
be thankful, Eric, one of our young men who was recently saved and baptized
said he was thankful for Jesus. We joke
and say that Jesus is always the answer to any question asked, but when it
comes to being thankful, there is no better answer. We are most thankful for Jesus. Everything else we have is temporary at
best. Because of Jesus we have eternal
blessings which can never be taken away.
Eternal Life. Forgiveness of all
sin. A home in Heaven. This Thanksgiving, when asked what you are
thankful for, simply say, “I am thankful for Jesus.”
Thank you for the good
response to the Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes. We have received over 200 from FBC
Carthage. We have processed around 1000
from our area churches and will send them on to Cookeville today around 1:00
PM. If you still have boxes to bring by
you drop them off at the Christian Life Center today from 11:00 AM-1:00
PM. Thanks to all the hard work that has
been given this year in this ministry/mission outreach. May many boys and girls be reached with the
Gospel of Jesus Christ through these boxes.
We are packing up the
coats for New York City on Tuesday afternoon at 4:00 PM. You can still bring coats by today or
tomorrow. Please pray for our mission
trip to New York City as we distribute them in the city-wide “Coats for the
City” distribution on December 1. Also,
pray for the men who will be driving them to NYC this Thursday afternoon.
Thanksgiving boxes will be
put together on Tuesday and distributed on Wednesday morning. If you would like to join in this ministry
outreach meet at the Christian Life Center on Tuesday evening at 5:00 PM or on
Wednesday morning at 9:00 AM. Everyone
is invited to join in this Thanksgiving outreach. Thanks to the Ladies Sunday School Class for
making this happen.
The annual Carthage
Christmas Parade is this Sunday, November 25 and we will gather in front of the
church around 4:30 PM. We will be
singing carols, giving out hot chocolate and coffee, and visiting with those
watching the parade.
The church office will be
closed on Thursday and Friday, November 22-23 for Thanksgiving. Anything for this week’s bulletin needs to be
to Deborah by Tuesday at 12 noon.
Please be praying for
Alicia Hoffman and her family in the death of her husband, Robert Hoffman. Visitation and a Memorial Service will be
held next Tuesday, November 27 in the Sanctuary at FBC Carthage. Visitation from 2-4 PM. Memorial Service at 4:00 PM.
Look for opportunities to
express thanks to God and testify of Jesus this special holiday week. Here are several Thanksgiving scriptures you
can read, meditate on, and share as you have opportunity:
Psalm 30:11-12; 69:30;
95:2; 100:1-4; 118:1; 1 Corinthians 15:57; 2 Corinthians 9:15; Philippians 4:6;
Colossians 3:17; 1 Thessalonians 5:18
Have a blessed week,
Bro. Tim
