FBC Carthage E-News for September 3, 2018

FBC Carthage E-News
September 3, 2018

Happy Labor Day,

I hope you have a joyful and safe Labor Day as you celebrate the Summer and look forward to the Fall.  This is my favorite season of the year as we move into cooler weather and anticipate the major holiday season.  There is a calendar art the end of this E-News with several dates through this Fall season.  Note the events that are coming up and look for opportunities to invite friends and family to join you at FBC Carthage.

The BIG EVENT for this month is our Fall Tent Revival on September 16-19 in the upper parking lot at Crump Paris Park.  Dr. David Leavell, Pastor of First Baptist Church Millington and the current President of the Tennessee Baptist Convention will be our Evangelist and the Nesbitt family will be leading the worship.  The theme will be “The John 3:16 Challenge.”  Begin inviting friends, family, co-workers, and neighbors to join you for the Tent Revival.  The services will begin at 7:00 PM each evening.  Here is a video challenge from our Evangelist, David Leavell to share John 3:16 this week:  https://www.fbcmillington.org/john316

We have yard signs and Revival Invitations available for you to pick up at the church office to spread the word of the Tent Revival.  If you would like a sign in your yard, let me know and I will bring one to you this week.  We have ten left at church and we need to get them up and out.   Let’s saturate Carthage and Smith County with the good news of John 3:16 and invite everyone to join us for the Tent Revival on September 16-19 at Crump Paris Park.

There is also a Tent Revival promo on the First Baptist Church Carthage Facebook page that you can share with all your friends.  Also, we just passed 500 likes on our Facebook page.  If you are on Facebook, go to the First Baptist Church Carthage page and like us.  There are weekly services, promos, and other media resources.  Check it out:   https://www.facebook.com/firstbaptistcarthage/

One of the most important things we can ever do in preparation for revival is Pray.  All revivals and major moves of God have begun with prayer.  Take time to pray for our county to come to Jesus.  Pray for God’s Holy Spirit to move in amazing ways through our hearts and lives that many will come to know Jesus as Lord and Savior.  Pray for those you know who are lost and unchurched.  Ask the Lord for boldness to invite them to come with you to the Tent Revival.

Here is a recent article for you to read from the Baptist and Reflector by David Leavell on prayer and the John 3:16 Challenge:  http://baptistandreflector.org/john-316-challenge-prayer/

We had another unchurched, neighbor family join us this week for the tailgate party before the football game.  We had a lot of fun as the children played on the inflatables, and enjoyed a hot dog and chips.  There are people all around us to reach for Jesus.  We will have two more tailgates this season on September 14 and October 5 at 5:00 PM before the game in the church parking lot on Main Street.  Stop by for a few minutes on your way to the game or come and stay the whole time and meet our community.  Volunteers are needed in set-up and preparation around 4:00 PM each night and in take down at 6:15 PM.

We are glad to welcome Brian Bigelow as he came yesterday to transfer his church membership.  We will have a Membership 101 class this Sunday, September 9 at 9:30 AM in the Sanctuary for our new members and anyone interested in knowing more about becoming a member.  There will be basic information and opportunity to ask questions about the church and the membership process.

Have a blessed week,
Bro. Tim
