FBC Carthage E-News
August 27, 2018
Good Morning,
We had a great evening of
prayer, praise, and inspiration last night at Crump Paris Park. The evening concluded with a prayer walk to
the upper parking lot where our Tent Revival will be held. Be making your plans to be present each night
of our Fall Tent Revival on September 16-19 in the upper parking lot at Crump
Paris Park. Dr. David Levell, Pastor of
First Baptist Church Millington and the current President of the Tennessee
Baptist Convention will be our Evangelist and the Nesbitt family will be
leading the worship. The theme will be
“The John 3:16 Challenge.” Begin
inviting friends, family, co-workers, and neighbors to join you for the Tent
Revival. The services will begin at 7:00
PM each evening.
We have yard signs
available for you to pick up at the church office to spread the word of the
Tent Revival. We also have John 3:16
tracts and revival invitations to distribute and invite your family, friends,
and neighbors. Let’s saturate Carthage
and Smith County with the good news of John 3:16 and invite everyone to join us
for the Tent Revival on September 16-19 at Crump Paris Park.
The Tailgate parties have
been a lot of fun these past two weeks as several families from the community have
seen the inflatables, stopped by, played on the inflatables, and enjoyed a hot
dog and chips. We will plan to have a third
tailgate this Friday night, August 30 at 5:00 PM before the game in the church
parking lot on Main Street. Plan to come
by this week if you are going to the game or not. Last week we had several volunteers to help
with set-up at 4:15 PM and take-down at 6:15 PM. If you can come and help it would be greatly
appreciated.
This Sunday morning, September
2 we will have a special focus on our local Baptist Association and its work in
our community. At the end of the service
we will take a special offering to go toward the new Association office on the
square, across from the Library. Marty
Dodge is our Director of Missions and Shelia Dodge is the ministry assistant
for the Association.
Please pray for Van and
Tracey Fields. Van is our Church
Custodian and Tracey, his wife has been battling cancer. This past weekend they received word that
there was not anymore that the doctors could do. Pray for them through this week.
Sunday’s message was on
the Second Coming of Jesus Christ as He gathers Believers. Jesus has promised to return. The scriptures affirm over and over that He
will return. One day, Jesus will come
and we’ll be going home! Here is one of
my favorite songs on the return of Jesus to brighten your week. It is called, “Midnight Cry.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7DG052rsP3Y
Have a blessed week,
Bro. Tim

The GriefShare
group added two new people this past week.
People are welcome to join throughout the sessions on Tuesday evenings
at 6:00 PM in the Smith County Chamber of Commerce on Upper Ferry Road. GriefShare
is a 12-week support group for those who are experiencing grief in the death of
a loved one. The sessions are
video-based and center on the teaching of many well-known Christian counselors
with testimonies of people moving through the journey of grief. GriefShare is sponsored by First Baptist
Church Carthage, Bass Funeral Home and Sanderson Funeral Home. There is no cost for the sessions and
workbooks are available for $15. For
more information contact Bro. Tim Frank at (615) 735-1929 or by email tfrank@fbccarthage.com. If you, or
someone you know is struggling with the loss of a loved one, you don’t have to
