FBC Carthage E-News for November 6, 2017

FBC Carthage E-News

November 6, 2017

Good Morning,

My heart is heavy as I read about the tragic shooting at the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas.  Please pray for this church, community and all the families impacted by this horrific event.  Pray for our nation as we again question why something like this would happen and what can be done to keep similar things from happening, especially in our community.  We had a preliminary church security meeting a few weeks ago after the shooting in Antioch and have a consultation set up with the church security director for the Tennessee Baptist Convention.  Incidents like the shootings in Antioch and Sutherland raise everyone’s awareness that safety and security are issues to be addressed in the church community.

This week, remember to be packing your Operation Christmas Child boxes and bring them this Sunday, November 12 to the Connection Point.  This is one of our most personal, hands-on mission efforts as we fill shoeboxes for children around the world.  Our church goal is 325 boxes with collection beginning November 13-20.  The Women on Missions, youth, and children will have a packing party on Wednesday, November 15 at 6:30 PM in the CLC.  Everyone is asked to join in this special effort and fill a box with the love of Jesus.  As you fill your box, remember to pray for the child who will receive this special gift.  Also, no food, candy, or toothpaste are to be packed in the boxes this year.  Sheets and boxes are available at the Connection Point with instructions on what to pack and not to pack in the boxes.  Also, a donation of $9 per box is needed to cover shipping costs.

We will begin the collection for Thanksgiving Food Boxes in the Sunday School classes this Sunday, November 12.  On Tuesday, November 21 we will pack the boxes and deliver them on Wednesday morning, November 22.  If you know of families who would be blessed by a Thanksgiving box please contact the church office at 615 735-1929.

Also on Sunday, November 12 we will have as our special guest in the morning service, Jeffery Lavalette.  He and his wife, Ashley, and children live in Toledo, Ohio where he is a church planter with Glass City Church. Jeffery is part of the Tennessee Baptist Convention partnership with Ohio.

Remember the PRAY 4:29 emphasis as we pray Acts 4:29 each day at 4:29 AM and/or PM. Prayer makes a difference as we ask the Lord for boldness to share His word with others around us.

We had 11 Gospel Conversations reported this Sunday on the Attendance Registers which brings our total for the year to 47.  Our goal for 2017-18 church year is 1000 which is about 20 Gospel Presentations each week or 85 per month.  Look for opportunities to share this week.

We rejoice with Judi Henderson as she came forward Sunday for baptism.

Have a blessed week,

Bro. Tim
