FBC Carthage E-News for September 4, 2017

Happy Labor Day!

Labor Day traditionally marks the close of the summer season and the settling in of the fall.  It is a day to enjoy a picnic with family, a trip to the lake, or just relaxing at home.  It is a celebration of the achievements and prosperity we enjoy through the hard work on millions of Americans.  The Lord gave us the ability and blessing to work and to achieve.  He gave six days for us to work and the seventh to rest.  Take time today to thank the Lord for the blessings afforded to us because of our work.  Pray for your co-workers and for the opportunities to share Christ’s love with them through your work setting.  We were created for a purpose, to glorify God in everything we do and say.  May we glorify Him in our work.  Happy Labor Day!

Prayer Focus of the Week:  Remember the national call to prayer for the families affected in Texas, the Gulf Coast and throughout Hurricane Harvey’s path.  The waters may be receded but the hard, long work of recovery is just beginning.  Pray for the thousands of volunteers and first responders who are helping the victims this week.  Pray for those who have been injured and for those who have lost loved ones in this disaster.

We received a special offering yesterday for the disaster relief efforts on the Texas Gulf Coast through the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board.  If you would like to have a part of this relief effort you can bring your gift by the church or designate it for “Disaster Relief” on Sunday.

In addition to our monetary offering, we are also receiving needed items for the hurricane victims.  A collection box is provided for you to bring items to the Connection Point or you can drop them off at WalMart with Billy Markham.  He will be set up in the parking lot Tuesday through Saturday of this week from around 11am to 3pm.  Look for his trailer with Hurricane Relief on the side.  A list of requested items from the TBMB Disaster Relief Director can be found at the bottom of this E-News.

This Sunday, September 10 we will recognize and pray for First Responders, the brave men and women in law enforcement, fire protection, emergency services, and rescue squad.  These individuals place their lives on the line each day as they serve their fellowmen.  On this Sunday,  the day before the 16th anniversary of the 9/11attacks, let us thank those who serve and pray for their safety.

Be praying for and inviting your family and friends to join us for our upcoming Camp Meeting Fall Revival, October 1-4.  We are calling it a Camp Meeting because we will have a different speaker for each of the five services.  Our speakers will be:
Sunday AM, October 1           Randy Davis
Executive Director, Tennessee Baptist Mission Board
Sunday PM, October 1            Scott Shepherd - Worship Specialist, TBMB
Monday, October 2                 Roc Collins - Evangelism Specialist, TBMB
Tuesday, October 3                 Don Pierson – Pastor
Stewart’s Chapel Baptist Church, Flintville, TN
Wednesday, October 4            Tim Hight – Pastor
GraceLife Baptist Church, Christiansburg, VA
In addition, Scott Shepherd and his family of five children will be leading us worship.

Have a blessed week,
Bro. Tim
