FBC Carthage E-News for July 3, 2017

FBC Carthage E-News
July 3, 2017

Happy Fourth of July,

Although a day early, I want to wish each one a happy and safe Fourth of July celebration.  This day is a special reminder of the freedoms we have in the United States of America and a time to celebrate our nation.  I watched a portion of the movie “The Patriot” last night and was reminded of the great sacrifices those colonists suffered in fighting for our freedoms.  Let us not take for granted our nation and the godly foundation that it is built upon.  Enjoy the picnics and special gatherings surrounding this holiday, but also take time to remember the blessings and freedoms we experience as Americans.  Happy Fourth of July!

It was a blessing to travel with the youth last week to Student Life Camp in Orange Beach, Alabama.  The camp sessions were a great blessing and several of our teens made life changing commitments to Christ.  There is just something about being in the middle of 1200 young people and leaders, worshipping Jesus and responding to His leading.  This past week was truly a “mountain top” experience with Jesus.  Parents, I urge you to encourage your children to take advantage of these special spiritual experiences throughout the year.  They can have eternal impact on the student’s lives as they follow Jesus Christ.

We rejoice in the decisions made public yesterday in the service.  We praise the Lord as Lauren, Mattie, and Brett Lowery were baptized, professing their faith in Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord.  We also rejoice in Chase and Wesley Stewart coming forward in the service professing their faith and desiring to follow the Lord in baptism.  These are exciting days as God works in the hearts and lives of our people.

Thank you to those who helped organize and prepare the food for the Patriotic Picnic last night.  Even though we had a rainy ending and a very abbreviated service, we had a great time of fellowship with the other churches of the New Salem Baptist Association and the burgers, hotdogs, and meal were delicious.

This Sunday, July 9 we will have special guests in the evening service as we welcome James Wanje and his wife, Choa from Kenya.  They serve as specialists with the ministry organization, Family Life in Kenya.  They will be sharing a special message to families in the 6:00 PM evening service.

A Church-wide Family Trip to Mammoth Cave National Park will be held this Thursday, July 6, leaving at 8:00 AM.  Everyone is invited to attend this special trip.  This will be a great opportunity for a family trip with the children or even a special outing with grandchildren.  Please contact Bro. Tim, Bro. Matt or the church office (615) 735-1929 today to let us know you are going.

Have a safe and blessed week,
Bro. Tim
