FBC Carthage E-News for July 24, 2017

FBC Carthage E-News
July 24, 2017

Good Morning,

This week we have two members of FBC Carthage on mission in Guatemala with the Tennessee Baptist partnership with the Guatemala Baptist Convention.  Seven persons from the New Salem Baptist Association joined in with others for this project.  Listed below is a prayer guide for the team this week.
·        Monday, July 24 Pray as the team begins the medical clinic, VBS, and the  construction project.  Pray as they share the gospel; pray for FLEXIBILITY.
·        Tuesday, July 25 Pray for the team as they serve in three areas: 1) the medical team as they love on hurting and scared patients; 2) the VBS team as they share the gospel twice a day with 500 students; and 3) the construction team to be safe.
·        Wednesday, July 26 Pray for the team to have strength as they continue serving in the medical clinic, VBS, and construction today.
·        Thursday, July 27 Pray for the team to have a restful and enjoyable day as they have the opportunity to go sightseeing around Guatemala City and prepare to leave.
·        Friday, July 28 Pray for the team as they say their good-byes, travel to the airport, and fly home.  They should arrive in Atlanta at 6:45 pm EDT.  Pray as Brad Tackett picks them up and brings them home.  Praise the Lord for what He has done!

This Sunday, July 30 will be the observance of baptism and the Lord’s Supper in the 10:45 AM service.  Both ordinances represent and remind us of the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  Let us prepare our hearts for this special service of remembering the cross of Jesus.

We have a very special day planned the following Sunday, August 6 as we welcome Gary Bates with  Creation Ministries as our guest speaker.  He will share in the Sunday School hour with the children, youth, and adult classes on “Dinosaurs, Fossils, and the Flood: Amazing Evidence for Creation.”  He will also be preaching in the morning service a message entitled, “Creation not Confusion.”  Plan to attend both sessions and invite your friends to join you for these informative, inspirational, and important messages.  Here is a video and website to introduce you to Gary and his ministry:  http://creation.com/gary-bates

The church camping trip was a lot of fun and very HOT!  Everyone seemed to have a good time as they endured the 100+ degree heat.  Thank you to John and Kristen Sanders for bringing their boat for the lake day activities.  On Sunday we had 60 people (and 4 dogs) attending the campground service.

The Men’s Main Event Conference is this weekend,  July 28-29 at the Municipal Auditorium in Nashville.  Speakers for the weekend will include football star, Kurt Warner; baseball legend, Darryl Strawberry; radio personality, Rick Burgess and many others.  Tickets are $50 for men and $25 for young men under 18.  We still have tickets available so see Bro. Matt Davis to sign-up for this incredible and uplifting conference.

Last night we enjoyed three different In-Home services and appreciate Stephen and Audrey Russell and John and Kay McCall opening their homes for the services.  We have two special Summer Sunday nights remaining before AWANA begins on August 13.  Those special services are:
July 30        Mission Reports and Sharing, CLC
Free Supper at 5:30 PM and Service at 6:00 PM.
August 6     Fireworks Spectacular and Picnic
@ John and Rhonda Ethridge’s Home
Covered dish picnic at 6:30 PM.
Bus will leave from the church parking lot at 6:00 PM.
The Bible Pathways reading guides for August are in!  You can pick up a copy in the Connection Point or the front foyer.    You can also subscribe to the reading guide online by free daily emails or access the reading the guide directly each day at www.crosswalk.com/devotionals/biblepathways.

The Smith County Fair will be next week, July 31-August 5!  FBC Carthage will host a ministry booth each evening of the fair to minister and reachout to our community.  A different Sunday School class will host the booth each night from 5:30-8:00 PM and distribute water and sno-cones, play games, take photos, and visit with our community.  We will also have a drawing each night for a Hard-back Study Bible.  This is a great week of ministry to our own community.  Here are the classes hosting the booth each night.
Monday, July 31            Samantha Upchurch’s Class
Tuesday, Aug 1             Jim Broyles’ and Jan Trainham’s Classes
Wednesday, Aug 2                  Cindy Dowell’s Class
Thursday, Aug 3            Stephen Russell’s Class
          Friday, Aug 4                Youth Classes
Saturday, Aug 5            Brad Tackett’s Class

We rejoice as Josie Kelly followed the Lord in believer’s baptism yesterday and Bobbie Key came forward professing her faith in Jesus, desiring to follow Him in baptism.

Have a safe and blessed week,
Bro. Tim
