FBC Carthage E-News for July 17, 2017

FBC Carthage E-News

July 17, 2017

Good Morning,

The mission team from First Baptist Carthage, Missouri just pulled away for their World Changer week of ministry and missions.  It was a blessing to host this mission group as they are traveling to North Carolina.  It never fails to amaze me how quickly bonds are made between Christians as we meet other believers from other places.  Pray for this group of new friends who stopped by for an overnight in Carthage, Tennessee.

Speaking of prayers for mission teams, please pray for the seven members of our Association Mission Team to Guatemala this Thursday, July 21 thru July 28.

Last night’s service was a delight as we had around over 20 people participating and sharing through music.  This night of “Singspiration” was a testimony to the talent and variety of praise the Lord has placed in our congregation.  The ice cream fellowship following the service was also a blessing.  Thanks to everyone who brought ice cream, cookies, and other treats.  Who knew we would have a homemade ice cream fellowship on National Ice Cream Day!    If you missed this special service, or any service, you can watch it online on the First Baptist Church Carthage Facebook page.

We still have several special Summer Sunday nights planned before AWANA begins on August 13.  Those special services are:

July 23         Services In-Homes

July 30         Mission Reports and Sharing, CLC

August 6      Fireworks Spectacular and Picnic

@ John and Rhonda Etheridge’s Home

The Bible Pathways reading guides for July are in!  Sorry for the delay.  If you found it easier to utilize the reading guide online you can receive free daily emails of you can go each day to www.crosswalk.com/devotionals/biblepathways.

The Smith County Fair will be July 31-August 5 and we will have opportunity to minister and reach out to our community each night through our ministry booth.  Each night a different Sunday School class will host the booth and distribute water and sno-cones, play games, take photos, and visit with our community.  We will also have a drawing each night for a Hard-back Study Bible.  This is a great week of ministry to our own community.  Here are the classes hosting the booth each night.

Monday, July 31              Samantha Upchurch’s Class

Tuesday, Aug 1               Jim Broyles’ and Jan Trainham’s Classes

Wednesday, Aug 2          Cindy Dowell’s Class

Thursday, Aug 3             Stephen Russell’s Class

          Friday, Aug 4                  Youth Classes

          Saturday, Aug 5              Brad Tackett

We welcome Ann Towns and Josie Kelly as they came forward yesterday during the invitation.  Ann came on transfer of her church membership by letter and Josie came on profession of faith and baptism.  We continue to praise the Lord for the decisions being made to follow Him.

Have a safe and blessed week,

Bro. Tim
