E News for June 5, 2017

FBC Carthage E-News
June 5, 2017

Good Morning,

As we move into the Summer activities I remind you of this year’s theme, “Make an Impact.”   There are many special events and trips planned to assist you in making an impact.  Last week we have ten people travel to Fort Hill Baptist Church in Knoxville to help them with painting.  It was a blessing to hear their expressions of excitement as the project was completed.  We also had around 20 persons travel last week to the Tennessee Baptist Children’s Home in Franklin for a Parent’s Night Out in which we have supper, games, and crafts with the children.

This week our focus and activities are in Carthage and Smith County.  Tuesday afternoon at 4:30 PM begins a series of Backyard Bible Club meetings in the community room at Clemmons Circle Apartments. Volunteers are needed each Tuesday to help with the food, the activities, and the children.  We also will host the Kid’s Bible Club meeting this Saturday, June 10 at 10:00 AM at the Defeated Creek Campground Pavilion.  Volunteers are needed as we have games, crafts, refreshments and a Bible story with the children who are camping.  We also will host two special services on Sunday, June 11, one at Defeated Creek Campground  at 8:30 AM with Brad Tackett leading and the other at the Pavilion Assisted Living at 2:00 PM with Bro. Tim leading.  One final opportunity for the week, we have the opportunity on Tuesday to prepare lunch for a group of teachers during one of their In-Service training classes.

Next week, June 12-16 is a BIG week of impact as we have our Vacation Bible School from 6:00-8:30 PM each evening.  Many teachers and workers are already in place and preparing for this exciting week.  There is still room for others to volunteer as helpers in the many classes and areas of service.  Pray for VBS and the children as they attend.  Pray for the teachers and leaders as they share the gospel with the children.  Invite at least one child to be a part of Vacation Bible School.

Remember to wear your special mission t-shirt during our activities and other times as you seek to make an impact in our community.  If you have not picked up a shirt they are available in the Connection Point.  Everyone is encouraged to pick up and wear their shirt throughout the summer as a reminder and a witness to the impact we have received through Christ and are then called to make in the lives of others.  Jesus said in Matthew 10:9, “Freely you have received, freely give.” May we individually and as a church make an impact on those around us as we live out the Fruit of the Spirit.

Have a blessed week,
Bro. Tim
