FBC Carthage E-News for June 12, 2017

FBC Carthage E-News
June 12, 2017

Good Morning,

Vacation Bible School is HERE!  This is the week of VBS each evening from 6:00-8:30 PM.  We have classes for children ages 4 through high school.  Take a moment to contact a friend, neighbor, or family member and invite them to bring their kids tonight to Vacation Bible School.  VBS will be filled with fun, crafts, recreation, music, and Bible stories about Jesus.  Don’t miss out on this week of impact.

The theme for VBS 2017 is “Galactic Starveyors: Discovering the God of the Universe.”  The focus verse the children will be encouraged to memorize is Colossians 1:15-16 which says,
He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.  For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.”

If you know of a child who needs transportation we are running both church vehicles on limited routes.  If we can, we will be glad to pick the child up for VBS.  Call the church office at 931 261-8452.

Please pray for Vacation Bible School this week.  Pray for the children as they attend. Pray for the teachers and workers as they minister to the children.  Pray for God’ s Holy Spirit to bring conviction in hearts of those ready for salvation.  Pray for a great week of impact in the lives of everyone involved.

Remember to wear your special mission t-shirt during Vacation Bible School.   If you have not picked up a shirt they are available in the Connection Point.

Thanks to Brad Tackett for leading the Defeated Creek Campground service.  There were 20 in attendance.

Here’s news for you:
·        The Mission Atlanta Team is preparing for the upcoming mission trip, June 22-24 to work with Kewon Foster and the new church plant in Atlanta.   We still have open rooms for you to be a part of this mission to the people of Atlanta.  We will release the unused  hotel rooms on Tuesday.  Please contact Bro. Tim tfrank@fbccarthage.com  or Bro. Matt davismatt81@gmail.com if you are considering the trip or if you need more information.

·        We are collecting adult vitamins, children vitamins,  children cough suppressant, infant vitamin drops, prenatal vitamins, and ibuprofen for the mission team to Guatemala.  Please bring them to the Connection Point before July 12 for the team to pack.

·        Backyard Bible Clubs continues each Tuesday at the Community Room of the Clemons Circle Housing Area behind the church.  We will have a Bible story, crafts, games, and food at 4:30 PM.  Help is needed in the refreshments, crafts, and games.  Contact Bro. Matt to join in the fun.

·        The Young at Heart will have a special outing on Tuesday, June 13 at 10:00 AM to the Warrior Camo Gun Range with Tina Gantenbein.  Tina will give a gun safety presentation and then give opportunity for those who would like to join her on the shooting range.  The cost is $10 which includes lunch.   All adults 55+ are invited to attend.

·        The Smith County Fair will be July 31 thru August 5 and we plan to have a ministry booth again this year.  Each night will be hosted by an Adult Sunday School Class.  Everyone is encouraged to wear your ministry shirts and join us for this ministry to the community.

·        The low-impact exercise class will be offered this Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 PM in the Christian Life Center.  Everyone is invited to participate.

·        Spaces are available for a Church-wide Camp-Out on July 21-23 at Defeated Creek Campground.  To reserve a space, contact the church office at (615) 735-1929.   There will be a Lake Day for everyone on that Saturday, July 22 beginning with a Kid’s Bible  Club at the Campground Pavilion at 10:00 AM followed by boating and an evening covered dish fish fry at 6:00 PM.

·        Here are several statistics that show why Vacation Bible School is so important in the life of our church.  Please pray this week for VBS.
Vacation Bible School is:
o   The single largest outreach event for churches.
o   An ideal setting for a ministry because more people will be on the church campus during VBS than at any other time.
o   More people have come to know Jesus as Savior than any single church event.
o   180,000 United States churches host VBS each year.
o   52 percent of pastors who decided as kids to follow Jesus did so while at a children’s summer camp/VBS.
o   25 to 28 percent of all baptisms in the Southern Baptist Convention are direct results of VBS.         ---Source: www.lifewayvbs.wordpress.com
