Good
Morning,
During
the month of February, we are focusing on love and how we express our love to
God and to others. In Sunday’s message we
looked at four basic principles of love and focused on our love for Jesus with
all our heart, soul, and mind. The four
principles of love that are foundational for our understanding of love are:

God is love. –
The basis of all love is God.

John 4:7-8 Beloved,
let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of
God and knows God. 8 He who does not love does not know God,
for God is love.

God demonstrated,
once and for all, His love in Jesus Christ.
Jn 3:16, Rm 5:8

John 4:9-10 In this the love of God was manifested
toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we
might live through Him. 10 In this is love, not that we loved
God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

God’s love calls us
to love Him in return.

John 4:19 We love Him[b] because He first
loved us.

God’s love
compels us to love others.

John 4:11 Beloved, if
God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
John 13:34-35
This
would be a great month for you to consider your love life. Your love for Jesus. Your love for others. Your love for the church. Your love for the Bible. Each week we will focus on one of these important
areas and explore how we live out our love.
When
asked what is the greatest commandment in all the Bible, Jesus said, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with
all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the
second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the
Prophets” (Matthew 22:37-40).
Pastor
Elijah Wanje sent me the following email last week from Nairobi, Kenya of the widespread
famine and starvation throughout Kenya. We will receive a special love offering this
Sunday, February 12 to send for famine relief through Pastor Wanje and Ridgeways
Baptist Church. Please pray and give generously for this great
need and the great opportunity our friends in Ridgeways have to help in the
name of Jesus. My first thought is to
want to go and help with the food distribution, but what if instead, I give a
portion or all of the money for the plane ticket for hunger relief through our dear
brothers and sisters in Ridgeways?
Jambo Brother Tim,
Trust you are good as we are. Some 2
million Kenyans are facing starvation, animals are already dying, and things
looking bad. Ridgeways Baptist Church has started responding by giving relief food
worth $10,000 dollars last December. We
are going out again in mid February to give equal amount of food. The situation is looking bad and we are needing
more support. I write to prayerfully ask
if you would consider partnering with us in this endeavor. We gave food with the gospel of Christ last December
over 30 people accepted Christ. We will
be grateful.

anticipate the birth of Carolina Grace.

is the news for the week:

Attention all ladies:
The Women on Missions group will meet tonight, Monday, February 6 at
6:30 PM in the Christian Life Center. Diane Arms will be the special
guest speaker and will share of her recent visit with her son and family,
Nathan, Laurie, and baby Grey. They serve as IMB missionaries in South
Asia. All ladies are invited to attend.

Join us for a “Call to Prayer” on Tuesday mornings at 7:00
AM in the Sanctuary. We have a great time of prayer each week and
promise to dismiss no later than 7:30 AM to allow everyone to get to school and
work.
·
We had a great start with 12 people for the Senior Adult
Exercise Class last week. The classes
will be offered in the Christian Life Center on Wednesday afternoons at 1:00 PM.
Everyone is invited to participate in this low-impact exercise program
designed to help with mobility, stamina, and balance.
·
A special Couple’s Night Out is being planned for Saturday,
February 11 from 5:00-9:00 PM. Childcare will be provided at the church
to allow couples the evening to have a night out. To sign-up or for more
information see Bro. Matt Davis.
·
The Young at Heart will have a Valentine’s Day trip for
lunch to Demo’s Restaurant on Tuesday, February 14. Everyone is invited
to join the group as we enjoy friends, food and fellowship. We will leave
from the church parking lot at 11:00 AM or meet at Demo’s at 11:30 AM.
·
An area-wide Evangelism Conference will be held on Monday,
February 27, 7:00 PM at New Middleton Baptist Church. The Tennessee
Baptist Evangelism Director, Roc Collins will be the guest speaker. All
deacons, Sunday School teachers, and church leaders are invited to a special
evangelism discussion session at 6:00 PM, prior to the conference.
Everyone is invited to attend the Evangelism Conference.

The youth are presently making plans to attend the Youth
Evangelism Conference on March 10-11 in Nashville. To sign-up and for
more information, see Bro. Matt Davis.
·
Ladies, the Women of Joy Conference in Pigeon Forge on March
27-29 is filling up fast. Contact Melody Tackett for more information and
to sign up.
·
GriefShare is meeting now on Tuesday evenings, 6:00 PM at
the Smith County Chamber of Commerce, 939 Upper Ferry Road. It’s not too
late to join in this grief support group that offers help and comfort to those
who have lost a loved one. You don’t have to make the journey through
grief alone. The sessions are open to everyone and there is no cost to
attend.

FBC Carthage is looking for a part-time custodian. The position
is estimated to be 25-30 hours per week. Responsibilities included but
are not limited to cleaning the church and Christian Life Center and doing
basic maintenance jobs. Couples who wish to share the job will be
considered for the position, as well. For more details contact John
Etheridge or the church office for a full list of qualification and
responsibilities.

The February Bible Pathways Bible Reading Guides are in and
can be picked up at the Connection Point of Sanctuary front door. You may find it easier to reed online by

We are needing people to help us evaluate a new resource
called Right Now Media. FBC Carthage has
subscribed to this online resource for 3 months to try-it-out and see if it is
helpful to you in your Christian life.
It is basically a Christian Study “Netflix” type resource that offers Marriage,
Parenting, Bible Study and Christian Growth videos that you can watch for
free. There is no cost to you through
the church’s subscription. If you would
like to participate simply send me an email to tfrank@fbccarthage.com with the email
address you would like to use. I will
send you the information and invitation to the site.
