Happy
Valentine’s Week,
This is
the week people will be reminded over and over to express their love and
friendship to one another. Flower shops
and gifts stores will have a booming business as the greetings are
exchanged. During this week I encourage
everyone this week to look for opportunities to share their love with others. Jesus commanded us to love one another, in
fact, He said that would be the way others would know we were His followers as
we loved one another. Jesus was not referring
to a romantic type of sentimentality but a self-giving love that seeks the best
for the other person. Therefore, this
week, do something for someone else in the name of Jesus. Be kind to others. Forgive others. Have compassion on others. Love one another.
One
concrete way we have to express Christian love to people in need is through our
offering for famine relief in Kenya.
Yesterday we received an offering of $2,671.00 to be given for food to some
of the estimated 2 million Kenyans facing starvation. Ridgeways Baptist Church in Nairobi, Kenya and
their Pastor Elijah Wanje are our mission partners in this effort. We will send our money to them to distribute as
they are ministering in their country.
Please pray for Ridgeways as they distribute food for one month this
Thursday to about 400 families. It is a
blessing to have a generous ministry partner to join hands together in this
crisis. Here is a video to give a better
picture of the desperate situation in Kenya:
This is
the week! Carolina Grace Clark is to be born
this week! Please continue to pray for
me and Fran, Chase and Sara as we anticipate the birth of our first grandbaby, Carolina
Grace. Sara is due on Tuesday, February
14 and her labor will be induced on Friday if Carolina hasn’t been born by
then. We are excited and anxious at the
same time. Thank you for your prayers
for us during this important week of our family’s life.
Have a
blessed week as you share your love through Jesus Christ with someone,
Bro.
Tim
