FBC Carthage E-News

February 27, 2017

Good Morning,

Tonight is an exciting evening of preaching and challenge at the Associational Evangelism Conference.  We will meet at New Middleton Baptist Church at 7:00 PM with the other churches of the New Salem Baptist Association and hear a challenging message from Bro. Roc Collins, the new Tennessee Baptist Evangelism Director.  Plan now to attend this inspiring meeting focused on our primary goal of reaching lost people with the Gospel of Christ.  Bro. Roc will meet with church leaders such as pastors, deacons and Sunday School teachers at 6:00 PM for a discussion of vision and strategy for reaching more people through the local church.  Here is a message Bro. Roc preached online:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iw99tK4n9rc  See you tonight.

Friday night, March 3 is a special evening for married couples called Marriage Encounter.  We will watch and discuss the single most important factor in your marriage and share how to maximize your relationship with your spouse.  We begin at 6:00 PM with soup and sandwiches and the entire event should last around 2 hours.  We still need one additional pot of soup and some desserts.  You can send a note to me at tfrank@fbccarthage.com if you can bring a dish.  We are also enlisting helpers for childcare for that evening.

I appreciate the work of the Gideons and enjoyed Troy Human sharing in the service yesterday as we focused on the Bible.  The Gideons are in over 200 countries distributing the Bible in over 100 languages.  Since their beginning in 1908, they have distributed over 2 Billion Bibles!  For more information on the Gideons check out their website at:  www.gideons.org.

I hope you are reading with us on the journey of reading through the Bible in 2017.  If you haven’t started, March is a perfect time to join in as we begin the book of Deuteronomy.  Bible Pathways are available in the front foyer and in the Connection Point.  You can also find the daily guides online at http://www.crosswalk.com/devotionals/biblepathways/.

If you haven’t signed up for Right Now Media there is still time to do so and check out the new video resource our church is offering to everyone for the next two months.  It is basically a Christian Study “Netflix” type resource that offers Marriage, Parenting, Bible Study and Christian Growth videos that you can watch for free.  There is no cost to you through the church’s subscription.  If you would like to participate simply send me an email to tfrank@fbccarthage.com with the email address you would like to use.  Right Now Media will send you the information and invitation toregister for the site.  There are over 10,000 helpful, inspiring, and informative videos to help you grow in your Christian walk.  You can learn more about Right Now Media at:  https://www.rightnowmedia.org/

We are happy to welcome Amanda Schemitz as she came yesterday requesting to be a member of the church.  Pray for Amanda as we begin the membership process and welcome her into the FBCCarthage family.

Speaking of church membership, we will have a Membership 101 Class for new members and those interested in membership this Sunday, March 5 at 9:30 AM in the Sanctuary.  Everyone is invited to this class.

Remember to attend the Evangelism Conference tonight at New Middleton Baptist Church with Bro. Roc Collins at 7:00 PM.

Have a blessed week,

Bro. Tim

Have a blessed week,

Bro. Tim

Here is the news for the week:

·        New City Church in New York City recently sent this request for help during their Easter service.  It may be just the mission experience for you:

As you know, Easter is right around the corner (April 16 to be exact). Even in NYC, Easter is a big Sunday where we see a great increase in attendance. Where the challenge presents itself for us is in our Children's Area. You see, our community is predominantly young couples and young families. In a nutshell, we have more kids attend than we have volunteer workers.   If you, or someone in your church, is looking for a mission opportunity in NYC we could use your help. We are looking for 10 folks from our partner churches who would be willing to come up the weekend of Easter to help in our Children's Area.  For more information contact Jeremy Digsby at jeremy@new-citychurch.com.

·        GriefShare is meeting now on Tuesday evenings, 6:00 PM at the Smith County Chamber of Commerce, 939 Upper Ferry Road.  It’s not too late to join in this grief support group that offers help and comfort to those who have lost a loved one.  You don’t have to make the journey through grief alone.  The sessions are open to everyone and there is no cost to attend.

·        The Sunday morning, Sunday night, and Wednesday night services are being video recorded and can be watched online by going to our church web page www.fbccarthage.com.  On the home page scroll down “Live Stream Audio - Live Broadcasts” and select the service you wish to watch by date.  A special thanks to the Media Team for making this resource available.

·        Here are the renovation needs at the New Salem Baptist Association Ministry Center building on 3rd Avenue.  If you would like to help with any of these projects, contact Marty or Sheila Dodge at the Association Office, 615 735-9362.
