FBC Carthage E-News
January 23, 2017
Good Morning,
What does the sanctity of
human life mean to you? This month we
have as a focus the sanctity of human life but what exactly does that
mean? Human life is set apart in the
Bible from all other types of life (animals, birds, fish, plants, etc.) Human beings are made in the image of God and
possess a body, spirit, and soul. The
soul is what sets human beings apart from the animal and plant kingdoms. The soul in the inner you that relates
directly to God. It is the real you who
lives inside the physical body. The
spirit is that which is born again as one places their faith in Jesus
Christ. Human beings are the only ones
in God’s earthly creation that has a relationship to Him. Human beings are those whom God loves and
those for whom He gave His only begotten Son, Jesus to die on the cross for
their sins. Human beings are the ones
who through faith in Jesus Christ have eternal life and a place prepared for
them in heaven to live eternally. Human
life is sacred and special before God and is therefore to be protected,
especially the most helpless, the unborn babies in the womb, the little
children.
This Sunday, January 29 we
will observe Sanctity of Human Life Sunday and celebrate God’s great love for mankind
in Jesus Christ. We will observe the
Lord’s Supper, have Baby Dedication, and receive a special offering for the
Pregnancy Help Center. Bring your filled
baby bottles this Sunday and place them on the table in the Connection
Point.
Yesterday, January 22 was
the 44th anniversary of the infamous court decision legalizing
abortion in the United States. Since
that time, more than 50 million unborn children have been killed through this
horrible practice. Pray for forgiveness for
our nation as it has allowed this slaughter of the most innocent to go on for
these many years. Pray for those in a
crisis pregnancy situation that they may have good, Godly counsel and realize
the value and dignity of the life they carry.
Pray for churches and Christ-centered pregnancy resource ministries as
they support and help young women and families in their pregnancies. Pray with those who serve to provide an
alternative to abortion through adoption.
Part of the uniqueness of
human life is the ability to plan ahead and care for the needs of others,
especially our loved ones, even after our physical death. January is the month we encourage you to care
for your family by making our updating your will, living will, and other end of
life documents. No one likes to think or
talk about these kind of matters and therefore, they often go undone causing
hardship and difficulties for family members.
Our legacy we leave and the way in which we leave it is part of our
stewardship responsibility before God.
Invite someone to attend
Sunday School and the worship service with you this Sunday. They will come if you will invite them.
Pray for Matt and
Elizabeth Davis this morning as they go with their daughter, Nora, for a tonsillectomy
in Cookeville. Be praying for Nora’s
recovery after the surgery.
Have a blessed week as you
live for Jesus,
Bro. Tim
