Merry Christmas,

The week we have anticipated and looked forward to all year long is finally here!  Christmas week!  This week will be filled with family gatherings, Christmas parties, gift exchanges, and many wishes of “Merry Christmas!”  This week is the perfect time to share the hope we have in Jesus.  Secular TV shows, movies, offices, etc. will be playing songs about the birth of Jesus and proclaiming Him as the “newborn King.”  Here are some simple ideas to honor Christ during this Christmas week:
·        Read the Christmas story from Luke 2 and Matthew 2 at your family gatherings.
·        Sing some Christmas carols as a family, office gathering, etc.  The Internet has the lyrics of all the Christmas carols to make a song sheet if necessary.
·        Take a gift, plate of cookies, fruit basket, meal to a neighbor or family and share with them the joy of Christmas.
·        Invite family members or friends to the Christmas Eve Service at 5:00 PM in Saturday night.
·        Bring your family to church on Christmas Sunday morning at 10:30 AM.
·        Spend some quiet time with God reading the Christmas accounts, worshiping Him, singing His praises.
·        Have a Merry Christmas!

During this special season we also are reminded to pray for those who are going through difficult situations with sickness, grief, and other issues.   There are several in the church who are going through challenging times this Christmas.  The message of hope, peace, love, and joy is for all people, even as they struggle under the burdens they carry.  Let us reach out to them with our compassion, kindness, patience, and prayers during this season.

I remind you of the special Christmas Services this week:
December 24    Christmas Eve Candlelight Communion Service, 5:00 PM
December 25    Christmas Sunday Service, 10:30 AM
(No Sunday School or PM Service)

The Sanctuary Choir Christmas Service was a true blessing yesterday.  The choir was filled and you could sense the Holy Spirit moving in the service.  It was a great day of worship at First Baptist.  A special thanks to Steve Dowell, the choir, and everyone who worked hard to share in this service.

On Christmas Sunday, the entire offering will be given to the Lottie Moon Offering for International Missions.  In addition to your regular tithes, everyone is asked to give a special gift for missions during this offering.  May we see this offering as our birthday present to Jesus.

Thank you for the Christmas bonus, cards, gifts, and wishes of “Merry Christmas” to me and all the staff.  You are always so kind and thoughtful to remember us in such generous way each Christmas.  Thank you.

Have a blessed week,
Bro. Tim
