FBC Carthage E-News
November 7, 2016
Good Morning,
This past weekend was an
exciting time as we participated in the On Mission Celebration. It is always inspiring to me to hear
missionaries share of their work in sharing the Gospel with the peoples of the
world. What a blessing to have Christy
Dyer, our friend and mission partner in New York City, to share in the Sunday
morning service. After the service she
had lunch and an orientation meeting with our upcoming mission team to New York
City. Scott Payne was a blessing in the
evening service as he shared of his work and the gospel impact in
Thailand.
Throughout the weekend, I
was amazed at the testimonies of the missionaries as they felt God’s call into
full-time mission work while on a short-term, volunteer mission trip. As we go to New York, Montana, Africa,
Guatemala, and wherever the Lord leads, He does something unexpected in our
lives to open our spiritual eyes and ears to His work and calling. I challenge every believer to participate in
a mission trip or project in this coming year.
There is something about our willingness to go and step out of the
routine that God uses in our lives for His honor and glory.
Be praying for our Mission
New York Team as we prepare for the upcoming mission project of distributing
coats to the needy, December 1-5. We are
collecting coats through Sunday, November 28 in the Connection Point. The Mission New York Team will carry the
coats to the city to distribute them in one of the largest public housing areas
in the United States. A box is located
in the Connection Point for your coats, hats, scarves, and gloves. All sizes are needed, especially the XL, XXL,
and XXXL.
Another way you can be
directly involved in missions is through packing Operation Christmas Child
boxes. The boxes are available in the
Connection Point for you to pick up and pack with items for a boy or girl
around the world. Each year, thousands
of boys and girls are touched through these shoeboxes filled with love and
blessings. Our church goal is 300
boxes which represents 300 children’s lives touched in the name of Jesus. Let’s all join in the excitement, joy, and
wonder of Operation Christmas Child.
Pack a box today. Drop-off your
boxes in the Connection Point this Sunday, November 14 through the following
Sunday, November 21.
Photography for the new

Center with almost every space filled! Remember

last-minute preparations. If you haven’t
reserved an appointment there is still ample opportunity on the two additional
days of photography, December 2 and 3.
You can make reservations for you and your family by going to the

included in the directory. Every family

put off making your appointment. Go
online or cal the church office today.
Please be in prayer
before, during, and after this important Election Day on Tuesday, November
8. I have heard both Presidential
Candidates and untold numbers of others say that this is the most important
election in our lifetime and will shape the direction and future of our nation
for generations to come. One commentator
said the anticipated 3-5 Supreme Court justices appointed during this
Presidency alone will shape America for the next 20-30 years. Our city, county, state and nation are in the
balance and we need God’s direction, mercy, and blessing as the vote is
taken. Please pray. Please vote.
This election is too important to “sit out.” Pray.
Go. Vote. Your vote counts. Your vote matters.
Pray for a dear, sweet
member of our church who will be moving this week. Ruth Denney has been a member of FBC Carthage
for many years and due to recent health concerns will be moving this week to be
near her daughter in Lewisburg, Tennessee.
Pray for Miss Ruth as she makes this transition to her new home. Her new address will be:
Ruth Denney
Village Manor
101 Tiger Blvd
Lewisburg, TN 37091
Have a blessed week as you
serve the Lord in Carthage, Smith County, and wherever you may go.
