FBC Carthage E-News
October 24, 2016
Good Morning,
Operation Christmas Child
had a great start yesterday as a young lady from the Ukraine, Katerina Lovell,
shared her experiences of receiving shoeboxes as a young child in an orphanage
and the joy and hope these simple boxes brought to her. There are thousands of boys and girls around
the world whose lives will be touched through your packing shoeboxes. The church is delighted to provide shoeboxes in
the Connection Point for you to pack and there are information sheets available
to give you ideas. The church goal is
300 boxes which represents 300 children’s lives touched in the name of
Jesus. If we are promised a blessing for
giving a child a cup of cold water, how much more as we give them a box filled
with love and the good news of Jesus Christ.
This week begins our
College Road Trip 2016 as we travel and visit the college students and take
them out for a meal. Thursday night,
October 28, 6:30 PM will be dinner at Cheddar’s for our students at Tennessee
Tech University. Help pass the word and
invite a friend to join us. The plan
will be to visit the other schools in the next couple of weeks. Pray for our college students in their
studies and their walk with Christ while they are away at school.
Have you scheduled your
appointment to have your family pictures made for the new Pictorial Directory. Spaces on November 11 are completely filled and
only three afternoon spots remain on November 12. There are still plenty left on the two new,
additional dates of photography scheduled for December 2 and 3. You can make reservations by going to the
church’s website, www.fbccarthage.com and click on the Events page.
On the Events page you will see the link to the Pictorial Directory
Reservations. You can also go directly
to the registration form by clicking on:
https://www.securedata-trans14.com/ap/firstbaptistchurch21/index.php?page=10 You can also
contact Deborah at the Church Office and she will be happy to schedule your
appointment. Call her today at 615-735-1929. It is so important that every family be
included in the directory. Every family
will receive a free 8x10 photo and a free directory once completed. There will also be opportunity to purchase
additional pictures if desired. Assistance in making your reservation will be available
this Sunday in the Connection Point if you need it.
A special Thank You to
Matt Davis and all those who helped make the 5th Quarter Youth
Fellowships a great success this year.
Last Friday’s 5th Quarter wrapped up this year’s home
football games and it was the best attended of the six fellowships we had. There is a great need in our community for
good, positive, Christ-honoring youth events and I am glad we offer these 5th
Quarters and many other events through the year to the students.
I remind everyone that early
voting is going on now through November 3 at the Turner Building in preparation
for Election Day on November 8. I voted
last week and there were only two people ahead of me. This is one election that every registered
voter needs to make the effort and vote.
Between the local referendums on liquor sales in Carthage and South
Carthage and the national election of President, this election is too important
to miss. It’s as easy as 1,2,3: Pray.
Go. Vote. Election Day is
November 8 and early voting is right now.
Your vote counts. Your vote
matters.
One more reminder, the New
York mission team is collecting coats to distribute in the city during their
December 1-5 trip. A box is located I
the Connection Point for your coats, hats, scarves, and gloves. Any size is needed, especially the XL, XXL, and
XXXL.
Have a blessed week,
Bro. Tim
