FBC Carthage E-News
August 8, 2016
Good Morning,
The news of the week is
that Paxton Timothy Davis is born and home from the hospital. Congratulations to Matt and Elizabeth Davis
in the new addition to their family.
Children are a blessed gift from God.
Let us always recognize and celebrate that precious gift. Be praying for Matt and his family as they
enjoy this chapter in their lives. Also,
pray for the other couples in our church who are expecting babies very soon.
A huge “Thank You” goes to
John and Rhonda Etheridge for hosting the end of summer picnic and fireworks
extravaganza. The fireworks were amazing
and the food delicious as we shared a perfect summer evening together as a
church family. Church is more than a
service or two a week. Church is people
joining their lives together in worship to God, service to others, and
fellowship with one another. We have a
great church family and it is a blessing to be connected with you.
Be praying this week as
the students begin their first full week of classes. Pray for the teachers that they may influence
and guide the students in a Christian way as they live Christ before them each
day.
Tomorrow, August 9 begins
the next semester of GriefShare, a 12-week grief support group. The
sessions will be held each Tuesday evening at 6:00 PM at the Smith County
Chamber of Commerce Building, 939 Upper Ferry Road. I have had the
priviledge of leading several semesters of GriefShare and have walked with many
people in Smith County in this journey of grief and loss. If you have questions you can contact me or
Mary Marsh, our GriefShare assistant leader.
GriefShare is open to everyone, especially those who have lost loved
ones in death. There is no cost for the sessions and a workbook is
available for a suggested donation of $15. GriefShare is sponsored by
First Baptist Church Carthage, Sanderson Funeral Home, and Bass Funeral
Home.
FBC Carthage hosted the Defeated
Creek Campground service yesterday and had 40 people in attendance. This is a great ministry opportunity to share
with those camping at Defeated Creek.
Those who attend seem so appreciative of the services each week.
I would like to give two personal
congratulations to my girls this week. First,
Chase and Sara Clark are expecting my first grandchild in February. Fran and I are excited to join the ranks of
grandparents. Second, our older
daughter, Jill Ellenbarger will graduate this Saturday from Texas A&M
University. She and her husband Michael
Ellenbarger will be moving to Siloam Springs, Arkansas where Jill will be
teaching at John Brown University.
There are many hurting
people all around who need encouragement, comfort, and strength in the journeys
of life. As Ambassadors for Christ we
represent the One who can help in every situation, Jesus Christ. Allow Jesus to use you this week in ministry
and care to the hurting around you.
Have a blessed week as you
serve the Lord,
Bro. Tim Frank
