FBC Carthage E-News
July 25, 2016
Good Morning,
This is a BIG week of ministry
and sharing as we participate in the Smith County Fair, July 25-30. Volunteers
from FBC Carthage will staff the ministry booth each evening from 5:30-8:00
PM. For those working the booth, enter
through the back gate behind the gas station and let Deborah Weaver, or whoever
is working the gate know you are with the FBC Carthage booth. The church will pay for your admission the
night(s) you serve. As in years before,
we will distribute water, make sno-cones, and face paint. This year we also want to incorporate our
mission theme, “His STORY, My Story” by sharing the story of Jesus and
challenging people to share their story.
This will be an exciting week as we share with our community.
The Sunday School class
working in the FBC Carthage Ministry Booth each night is:
Monday, July 25 Samantha
Upchurch’s Class
Tuesday, July 26 Jim Broyles’ Class
Wednesday, July 27 Stephen
Russell’s Class
Thursday, July 28 Cindy
Dowell’s Class
Friday, July 29 Brad
Tackett’s Class
Saturday, July 30 Youth
Class
Other classes and those
not in a class are encouraged to choose a night and join in with the sponsoring
class.
Thank you to Elizabeth
Davis, Rhonda Etheridge, Lisa Reece and other ladies for hosting the
Mother/Daughter Tea yesterday. I have
heard very good reports on the delightful time had by all who attended.
The Main Event Men’s
Conference was a great blessing this weekend.
We had a total of 11 men participate in the event. Thanks to Matt Davis for getting the trip
together. The speakers were inspiring,
the worship was amazing, and the fellowship with the men from our church was very
enjoyable, especially Sal’s Pizza for lunch on Saturday.
Please continue to pray
for Steve Dowell as he has several medical tests this week. I appreciate the good job he does in leading
us in singing each week. Yesterday’s Men’s
Chorus singing “I’ll Fly Away” was a great blessing.
Also, be praying for the Nominating
Committee as they work toward enlisting the leadership and workers for the
coming year.
Have a blessed week,
Bro. Tim

A special Movie Night showing of “Woodlawn” will be held on this
Sunday, July 31 in the Christian Life Center.
We will have finger-food refreshments at 5:00 PM and the movie at 5:30
PM. "Woodlawn" is a moving and inspirational new film based on the
true story of how love and unity overcame hate and division in early 1970s
Birmingham, Ala. It is the story of a
gifted high school football player who must learn to boldly embrace his talent
and his faith as he battles racial tensions on and off the field. Through the sharing of an “outsider” more than 40
players, nearly the entire team, black and white, give their lives over to the
“better way” through following Jesus, and the change is so profound in them it
affects their coach, their school and their community in ways no one could have
imagined. The church has purchased the license to publicly show this motion picture in a group setting. You can view the trailer at: http://www.providentfilms.org/film/woodlawn

One of the
amazing speakers at the Main Event Men’s Conference was the Benham brothers who
were fired from HGTV for their personal beliefs in Christian family values, that
marriage is a union of a man and a woman.
Since then they have been given hundreds of opportunities to share their
faith in the national spotlight. Here is
their web site with many encouraging videos as they share boldly: http://benhambrothers.com/
