FBC Carthage E-News
March 14, 2016

Good Morning,

Spring is blooming everywhere you look in Carthage.  Flowers are bursting forth in color, trees are budding, and the warmer weather is very enjoyable.  This is a beautiful time of year.  Take some time this week to enjoy the outdoors and thank the Lord for the wonder of the seasons.  Also, thank him for the gift of His Son, Jesus Christ and His death and resurrection we celebrate in this time of the year.  Listed below are the special services coming up in celebration of Jesus and His sacrifice and victory:
·        Palm Sunday  March 20 @ 10:45 AM
We will focus on the power of the cross and remember the Lord’s death through observing the Lord’s Supper.
·        Combined Good Friday Service at FBC Gordonsville     March 25@ 6:30 PM
The churches of the New Salem Baptist Association will join together for a combined Good Friday Service at First Baptist Church Gordonsville.  Several Pastors will bring brief messages around the last words of Jesus on the cross.  We will also celebrate the Lord’s Supper together.
·        Defeated Creek Campground Service  March 27 @ 8:30 AM
It is our privilege to share a special service with the campers at Defeated Creek Campground on Easter Sunday.
·        Easter Sunday Celebration Service  March 27 @ 10:45 AM
Invite family and friends to join us for the celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.  The Sanctuary Choir will present a special musical presentation and the message will focus on the power of the Resurrection.
·        Shut-In Services @ 5:00 PM
We will meet in the Sanctuary at 5:00pm and then divide into groups for services in the homes of our shut-ins.  The services will include the Easter story, singing,  and observing the Lord’s Supper.

Remember the encouragement to invite friends, family, and neighbors to join us during this special time at FBC Carthage.  This week, I ask each member to think of five people they could call and invite to attend with you.  It may be family and friends who have not been with us at FBC Carthage or it may be those you have been missing for a while.  There is something about the Easter season that makes people want to be in church.  Let’s each one invite at least five people to come with us on Easter Sunday.

Speaking of Easter Sunday, we are anticipating a large attendance and to accommodate the number of people we will have an overflow worship area in the Christian Life Center where the service will be shown on the big screen live.  Bro. Matt Davis will be hosting this overflow area and be available to receive people during the invitation.  We are asking ten families to volunteer to be a part of this overflow service in the Christian Life Center on Easter Sunday.  This will help create more room for guests in the Sanctuary and help give a full-feel to the overflow service.

Have a blessed week and remember to be contacting people to join us for Easter Sunday 2016.
Bro. Tim

Here’s the News for the week:

·        We continue to pray and give to North American Missions during the month of March.  There are several thousand missionaries and church planters throughout the United States and Canada who serve through the North American Mission Board.  Two of the NAMB missionaries we know personally are Zeke Tomaselli in Hilo, Hawaii and Christy Dyer in Queens, New York.  Pray for the work of the missionaries and church planters across the United States and Canada.  Here is the link to the informational videos we are showing this month: http://anniearmstrong.com/#resources

·        The Ladies Bible Study group will meet tonight, Monday, March 14 at 6:00 Pm in the classroom just inside the Fite Avenue basement door.  All ladies are invited and welcomed.

·         The Smith County Backpack Ministry will meet today at 4:00 PM at the Ag Center to pack bags to give to the children of our schools.  This is a great ministry of help and hope as needy children receive the food each weekend to provide for their needs.  Volunteers are needed today to help pack bags at 4:00PM at the Ag Center.

·        Anna Maxwell is coordination a mission team from FBC Carthage to Haiti, June 11-18, 2016.  This effort will be through the Doors of Hope ministry we heard about during the Fall Revival with Brent Gambrell.  Contact Bro. Tim or Anna Maxwell for more information.

·        The Smith County Pregnancy Help Center will have their Annual Fundraising Banquet next Monday, March 21 at 6:00PM at the Ag Center.  Everyone is invited to attend this event.  RSVP is requested by contacting Alicia Hoffman at (615) 281-8054.

·        It’s not too soon to mark your calendar and begin praying for our Spring Revival with Bro. Jimmy Arms, May 15-18.

·        During March, the Women on Mission ladies are collecting hair items such as combs, brushes, headbands, bows, barrettes, etc. for Operation Christmas Child. Collection boxes are located in the Connection Point.

·        Mark your calendar and make your plans to be a part of the dramatic presentation of “Heaven’s Gates, Hell’s Flames” on April 24-26 at the Ag Center.  People are needed for acting parts, ushers, parking, and decision counsel.  The churches of the New Salem Baptist Association are joining together for this evangelistic outreach.
