FBC Carthage E-News
February 8, 2016
Good morning,
This is the week millions
of Valentines will be exchanged and people will be reminded of the importance
of sharing with family and friends how much they are loved. In the message yesterday I mentioned the 5
Love Languages by Gary Chapman and the concept that we each “speak” one of
the five love languages (Touch, Acts of Service, Gifts, Shared Activities,
Words of Affirmation) as our primary way we communication love. The challenge is when our spouse, family,
friends communicate in a different language.
In that case, I may think I am communicating “I love you” and the other
person does not understand the “love language.” I encourage you to check out more
information on this topic at http://www.5lovelanguages.com. There is a free profile tool and many good
resources that may be a great help in understanding you and your loved one’s
love languages. The best Valentine you
can give is to learn to love and communicate that love to your spouse,
children, and friends.
The
BIG news for this week is Matthew Davis and his family will be with us for a
special weekend this coming weekend as our prospective Minister to Youth and
Families. The schedule below gives the
special events of the weekend for you to get to know Matthew, Elizabeth, and
their three girls, Bailey (6), Nora(4), and Morgan(2). Matthew and his family live in the Memphis
area and are active members of Bellview Baptist Church where he has served in
the youth and families ministries as a volunteer for many years. In addition to their three daughters, he and Elizabeth
are expecting their fourth child in the summer.
Matthew has his Bachelor of Arts
degree from University of Memphis, Master of Christian Studies from Union
University, and is working toward his Master of Divinity from Liberty
University. At the end of the Sunday
Morning Service we will have the opportunity to vote to call Matthew Davis as
our Minister to Youth and Families.
Please be praying for the Davis family as they prepare to meet the FBC
Carthage family.

Thank you to the many ladies who serve in this vitally important ministry
