FBC Carthage E-News
October 5, 2015
Good Morning,
After a rainy few days it
is good to see the sun shining. The
truth is that regardless of the weather, the sun is always shining. We know that in our minds but often on those
long dreary, rainy days we can only see the grey skies. That’s how life can be as well. We know God loves us and cares for us, but
during times of sickness, discouragement, or grief He can seem far away. Always know in those days that He is still
there. He still cares. He still loves you. Even when all you feel is the grey skies, God
is still shining His love on you. I love
the quote, “Don’t question in the dark what you know to be truth in the light.” God’s love and care do not come and go like
the weather. His love and care never
fail. The Son is shining!
Thank you to John
Etheridge for leading the Defeated Creek Campground Service yesterday. John reported there were around 30 in
attendance.
This is a great week to
begin inviting people to join you for the Fall Revival, November 1-4 with
Evangelist Brent Gambrell and worship led by the Scott Nesbitt family. The services will be at 6:30 PM each
evening. Brent will also be with us for
the Sunday morning service on November 1.
This will be a special week for you, your family, and all those who you
invite. In fact, it may make an eternal
difference in their lives if you will be faithful to bring them each night.
Speaking of Sunday morning
services, the Church Council and Deacons have discussed and recommend we move
back to one morning service for a period of time beginning Sunday, November
1. We believe this move will help build closer
relationships within the congregation and a sense of excitement in the
services. We will evaluate and monitor
the impact of this move through the next couple of months. Your input is important to us as we move
forward in reaching people for Christ.
The Sunday School classes will continue to meet at 9:30 AM and worship
at 10:45 AM.
Thank you to all the
adults and youth who helped in the 5th Quarter Youth Fellowship this
past Friday night. We had a good group
attend and four of the students talked to the speaker after the devotion about
trusting in Jesus! The next and final 5th
Quarter for the year will be Friday, October 30.
Pray for Anna Maxwell as
she returns today from a weekend mission trip to New York City. She worked with New City Church and NAMB
Missionary Christy Dyer. The church hosted
a community-wide carnival in a local park with 800-1000 people attending! Anna reported that the weather was great and
the sun was shining.
Thank you for your prayers
for Glenda Baker and her mission trip to FBC Poplar. She is back in Smith County and will be
sharing of her experiences tonight at the Women on Missions meeting at the home
of Mildred Westbrooks, 812 Jefferson Avenue East. All ladies are invited and encouraged to
attend.
This is a wonderful week
to reach out and minister to someone in the name of Jesus. There are needs and opportunities all around
you. Have a blessed week,
Bro. Tim

We also need people to be greeters, ushers, and decision counselors. If you can help please contact Bro. Tim. Also, this will be a great program to invite
your friends to attend.
