FBC Carthage eNews for August 3, 2015

FBC Carthage eNews
August 3, 2015

Good Morning,

Pray this week for our teachers and administrators as they prepare for the upcoming school year.  Students begin with a half day on Thursday.  May this be a great year of growth and learning for all our students and teachers.

Thank you to all who served last week in our ministry booth at the Smith County Fair.  The classes were very well represented and I feel like we had a good outreach to the community.  No one could miss us with the bright mission shirts.  Thanks again for your willingness to “Do Something” in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Thank you to John and Rhonda Etheridge for a truly spectacular fireworks and church picnic last night at their home.  It was a perfect evening to be outside and together as a church family.  We had several new families with us for the festivities.  From the comments and the ooh’s and aah’s , this was the best fireworks spectacular yet!  I especially liked the special fan-shaped fireworks.  The best comment came after the show was over as someone said, “Do it again!”  Thanks John and Rhonda.

The net BIG event for FBC Carthage will be our “Wonderfull Weekend” on August 21-23 at the Smith County Ag Center with Christian Illusionist Scott Humston.  The services will begin at 7:00 PM on Friday and Saturday and at 6:00 PM on Sunday night.  We will have one combined Sunday morning service at FBC Carthage at 10:30 AM.  He will be at the Ag Center for the other services.   I would like for you to help us promote this unique outreach effort through FaceBook and inviting all your friends to attend.  Here is a link you can use for your FaceBook page or go to my page, Tim Frank and share my post about the Wonderfull Weekend.  Share this video link:  https://youtu.be/o-l0Lz6vx7A

Continue to pray for Jeff, Kristina, and Peyton Hall as they finish up their ministry here at FBC Carthage and prepare for the move to FBC Savannah.  Jeff has been a blessing to us and led us in many ways here at FBC Carthage.  To express our love and appreciation to this family we will receive a special love offering at the end of the services this coming Sunday, August 9.   On Sunday, August 16 we will have a luncheon after the morning services in their honor and everyone is asked to attend and bring a covered dish for the meal.  Take these last couple of weeks to express your appreciation to this special family.

AWANA begins this Sunday night, August 9 at 5:30 PM.  It is always exciting as we begin a new semester and as the boys and girls come with eagerness to learn the Word of God.   AWANA is our discipleship program for preschool, children, and youth to systematically teach them to memorize and learn the Bible passages.   AWANA needs you.  Teachers, helpers, and workers in recreation and refreshments are all needed as we begin the new year.  Contact Michael Collins or Bro. Tim for more information and to be a part of the 2015-16 AWANA Team.  Let’s reach the boys and girls for Jesus Christ and train them to be approved workers who are not ashamed!

There are several other opportunities to serve this year at FBC Carthage as we begin the new church year.  To serve in Sunday School, contact Mark Dillon, Sunday School Director.  To be on a Wednesday night cooking team, contact Marreet Hutchins, Cindy Dowell, or Rhonda Etheridge.  The Nominating Committee and Committee on Committees are also working to link opportunities for service with members willing to serve.

Please pray this week for a special North American Mission Board Conference in Nashville called “SEND North America.”  Missionaries and church leaders from across the United States and Canada will be attending this strategic meeting for inspiration, motivation, and ideas for reaching North America for Christ.  Jeff and I will be joining the 15,000 other leaders for this important conference.

Have a blessed week,
Bro. Tim

·        The Young at Heart (Adults 55+) will have lunch at Loveless CafĂ©’ on Tuesday, August 11.  We will meet at the church parking lot at 10:30 AM and travel to Loveless.  Invite someone and join in the fun.

·        Wednesday night meals will begin again on Wednesday, August 12.  We are in need of two new cooking teams to rotate with the existing cooking teams once a month.  The cooking teams begin the meal around 3:00 PM Wednesday afternoon and serve from 5:00-6:00 PM.  For more information how you can help contact Bro. Tim Frank , Cindy Dowell, Rhonda Etheridge, or Marreet Hutchins.  The Wednesday night meals serve about 25-40 people, many are children, and send out about 12-16 meals to Senior adults and homebound.  This is a great and rewarding ministry that is very appreciated.

·        The August Business Meeting will be held next Wednesday, August 12 at 6:30 PM.  There will be several important matters to discuss including a 25-year lease on property just behind the Carthage Courier building which will allow us a drive-through from the upcoming parking lot on Fite Avenue.  We will also have a recommendation for changes to our Constitution and By-Laws, Wedding Policy, and CLC Building Usage Policy.  You can read these changes on the church web site under the “Mission and Belief’s Tab” or click on  http://www.fbccarthage.com/proposed-constitution-and-by-law-change/.
