FBC Carthage E-News for May 4, 2015

FBC Carthage E-News
May 4, 2015

Good Morning,

This is a big week or two for many families in our church and community as they prepare for Graduation Ceremonies at the two local high schools and many colleges and universities.  We have a great group of graduates at FBC Carthage and are proud of their accomplishment as they receive their diplomas.  Please pray for the graduates over the next couple of weeks as they celebrate this special time in their lives.  Our 2015 graduates are:
High School Graduates -         Seth Agee, Peyton Azbell , Mason Dillon, Wes Dunbar ,Tre’ Gammons, Tanner Hackett
College/Trade School Graduates - Leah Bane, Tommy Lee Bane, Angela Kinslow Brown, Timmy Bush, Katie Daugherty, Grant Denney, Mark Dillon, Zach Sanders

This coming Sunday, May 10 we will be recognizing and honoring our mothers on Mother’s Day.  We have a special gift for all ladies this Sunday.  In addition, we are planning to take pictures of individuals and families.  Bring your family and join us for a special day in honor of mom.

This Sunday, May 10 will also be Baby Dedication in the morning service.  We have several babies and families planning to be a part of this Dedication Service.  If you would like to participate please contact Bro. Tim or Audrey Russell.

Speaking of special Sunday morning services, I remind you of the special services through the remainder of the month of May:
·        May 10 is Mother’s Day and we will recognize and remember the blessings of our moms.  We will have a special gift for every lady in the services and pictures will be made so bring your families.

·        On May 17, Navy Captain Barry Wilmore will share of his experiences as the recent Commander of the International Space Station and bring the morning message.

·        On May 24, we will focus on the importance of the Bible, God’s Word and have a special presentation from the Gideons on the power of God’s Word to change lives through faith in Jesus Christ.  This will also be the day we distribute the mission t-shirts to everyone for the Summer.  The emphasis will be “Do Something.”

·        On May 31 we will have Special Music from Crystal McCall and the Bluegrass group she plays with.  In addition, we will observe the Lord’s Supper on this 5th Sunday.

Mission Montana 2015 is coming together as we make preparations for our trip on June 24-July 4.  As of today we have 20 signed up for the team.  We will be collecting small toys to distribute during the Carnival one evening in Montana.  The WOM is also planning a Cookie Bake on Saturday, June 20 at 8:00 AM in the CLC.  Everyone can be a part of Mission Montana 2015 as you pray for the team.

Speaking of Montana, the First Baptist Church in Poplar has a great need this Sumer for help with the Children’s Ministry.  They presently have several helpers from a neighboring town coming to help on Wednesday nights but the group of students will not be available during the Summer.  If you or someone you know would like a Summer of missions, contact Bro. Tim and let’s talk about arrangements in Poplar.  We make a difference in the five days of the mission trip each year.  Think of the impact of a person or persons serving several weeks/months with the church in Poplar.  This may be exactly the opportunity to serve the Lord which you have been praying for.

The initial set-up and use of the Association’s Ministry Trailer was a great success on Saturday. The children present enjoyed the two new inflatables and everyone had some popcorn, cotton candy, and sno-cones.  We had a dedication of the trailer and equipment to the glory and purpose of God.  Our first scheduled use of the Ministry Trailer will be Friday, June 12, the final day of Vacation Bible School.

We had 17 present for the Defeated Creek Campground Service this past Sunday.  Thank you Brad Tackett for leading this service.

Even though the Supreme Court has finished hearing the arguments on the issue of marriage, it is still important for God’s people to pray for the Justices and the decision they will bring on this pivotal case.

Have a blessed week,
Bro. Tim
