FBC Carthage E-News
May 11, 2015
Good Morning,
I hope all the mothers had
a very nice Mother’s Day yesterday and felt honored and remembered for the
important role they play in their children’s lives. Flowers, cards, and gifts are but tokens of
the appreciation and thanks you deserve as a mom. Throughout this week, do little things to
show your mom how much you love her.
Here is the link for the
handout in the bulletin yesterday that gave 31 ways to pray for your children
in 31 days: http://fmcusa.org/wp-content/blogs.dir/45/files/2011/09/31-Days-Calendar-Color.pdf
For a fuller explanation
of the 31 ways: http://www.d6curriculum.com/teacher/misc/fusion-31-ways-to-pray
For those of us who have
lost our moms to death, Mother’s Day can be a day of mixed emotions. We appreciate and remember all our moms meant
to us, while at the same time missing her and the chance to see her or talk to
her on Mother’s Day.
Here is a true picture of
the images of mom:
4 YEARS OF AGE ~ My Mommy can do anything!
8 YEARS OF AGE ~My Mom knows a lot! A whole
lot!
12 YEARS OF AGE ~ My Mother doesn't really
know quite everything.
14 YEARS OF AGE ~ Naturally, Mother doesn't
know that, either.
16 YEARS OF AGE ~ Mother? She's hopelessly old
fashioned
18 YEARS OF AGE ~ That old woman? She's way
out of date!
25 YEARS OF AGE ~ Well, she might know a
little bit about it.
35 YEARS OF AGE ~ Before we decide, let's get
Mom's opinion.
45 YEARS OF AGE ~Wonder what Mom would have
thought about it?
65 YEARS OF AGE ~ Wish I could talk it over...
This next Sunday, May 17
also promises to be a fantastic day of worship at FBC Carthage as we welcome
Navy Captain Barry Wilmore. Captain
Wilmore recently served 167 days as the Commander of the International Space
Station. He will be sharing of his experiences
and bringing the morning message in both services. Invite your family and friends to join you
for this special service.
This afternoon, May 11, we
will be going to the Trinity Broadcast Network for a taping of their television program, Praise the
Lord with host Jason Crabb and special guests T. Graham Brown, Jimmy Fortune,
Jeff Bates, Brady Weldon and Demetria Stallings. There is no cost to attend and Trinity will
contribute $20 to the Smith County Pregnancy Help Center for everyone in the

One
last Mother’s Day appreciation in the form of a poem:
Mother's Elbows On My Bed
I was but a youth and
thoughtless, As all youths are apt to be;
Though I had a Christian mother
Who had taught me carefully.
There came a time when pleasure
Of the world came to allure,
And I no more sought the
guidance Of her love so good and pure.
Her tender admonitions fell But
lightly on my ear,
And for the gentle warnings I felt an inward sneer.
But mother would not yield her
boy To Satan's sinful sway,
And though I spurned her counsel
She knew a better way.
She made my room an altar, A
place of secret prayer,
And there she took her
burden And left it in His care.
And morning, noon and
evening By that humble bedside low,
She sought the aid of Him who
Understands a mother's woe.
And I went my way unheeding,
Careless of the life I led,
Until one day I noticed Prints
of elbows on my bed.
Then I saw that she had been
there Praying for her wayward boy,
Who for love of worldly pleasure
Would her peace of mind destroy.
Long the conflict raged within
me, Sin against my mother's prayers,
Sin must yield - for Mother
never While she daily met Him there.
And her constant love and
patience Were like coals upon my head,
Together with the imprints Of
her elbows on my bed.
And so at last the fight was
won, And I to Christ was led,
And mother's prayers were
answered By her elbows on my bed.
