FBC Carthage E-News for March 9. 2015

FBC Carthage E-News
March 9, 2015

Good Morning,

Hopefully the snow and cold weather have passed and we are on our way to Spring.  The past few days have had the feel of Spring and I think most of us are ready.

With Spring comes the celebration of Jesus’ resurrection on Easter, Resurrection Sunday, April 5.   I encourage you to be preparing for this special day of celebration as we rejoice in Jesus’ victory over sin, death, hell, and the grave.  We will have one service that morning at 10:00 AM as the choir presents a special music celebration of the resurrection, we celebrate in worship, and share together the good news from God’s word.  Jesus is Risen!  Spread the word and invite someone to join you on April 5.  Your family and friends will come with you if you will invite them.

The Spring Marriage Retreat will be April 17-19 in Gatlinburg at the Edgewater Hotel.  Each couple will make their own reservations ($89 per night)  with the Conference Center by going online or calling (865) 436-4151.  The website is http://edgewater-hotel.com.  FBC Carthage has a block of rooms set aside from which you can make your reservations.  The block of rooms will be released to the hotel on March 18 and the price per room will go up to the regular hotel price.  Make your reservations this week.

Continue to pray for our missionaries throughout the United States and Canada as they serve through the North American Mission Board.  The strategy for the mission board is to start new churches, especially in 32 of the largest cities in North America.  These 32 “Send North America Cities” are home to 80% of the population.  In the United States that would be 240 million people living in these handful of cities and 60 million living everywhere else.  With that kind of concentration one can quickly see the need to start as much work as possible in the cities.  We have direct contact with two of the 32 “Send Cities.”  In New York City we have worked with New City Church in Queens.  Christy Dyer has shared in our church and is our contact for future work.  In Cincinnati, Ohio  our New Salem Baptist Association is partners with the Ohio Valley Baptist Association.  We have worked with Pastor Bob Singleton and the McCelvey Road Baptist Church.  In addition, Zeke Tomaselli, our former Minister to Youth and Music, is a NAMB missionary in Hilo, Hawaii.  We have a personal involvement and investment in the work on the North American Mission Board.  I encourage everyone to give a special offering during this emphasis for missions.

Here is the website for NAMB and more information on North American Missions:  http://www.namb.net/.   The featured missionaries shared each week and their video stories can be found at: http://anniearmstrong.com/missionaries-2015/

I want to say a special “Thank You” to everyone who ministers to our children through Sunday School, Children’s Church, AWANA, RA’s, GA’s, Vacation Bible School, and other opportunities.  Also, an encouragement to parents to “diligently teach” your children the spiritual truths through the Bible.  What greater mission and ministry could we have than teaching the next generation about Jesus Christ.

Have a blessed week,
Bro. Tim
