FBC Carthage E-News for March 2, 2015

FBC Carthage E-News
March 2, 2015

Good Morning,

With the calendar page turning to March, it gives a welcomed message that Spring is just about here!  After the two weeks of ice and snow it is good to think about the flowers and trees budding and blooming.  There are many exciting events planned for the Spring and Summer at FBC Carthage and I am looking forward to each one.

This week is the Week of Prayer for North American Missions through the North American Mission Board (NAMB).  As Southern Baptists, we have missionaries throughout the United States and Canada starting new churches and ministering to the needs of people in the name of Jesus.  During this month leading up to Easter, we will also be receiving the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering for North American Missions.  I encourage each Believer to remember the price Jesus paid for our salvation on the cross and give a generous gift as an expression of our thankfulness so that others may hear the gospel message.  Here is the website for NAMB and more information on North American Missions:  http://www.namb.net/.   The featured missionaries for the Week of Prayer and their video stories can be found at: http://anniearmstrong.com/missionaries-2015/

I encourage all married couples to join us for the Marriage Retreat in Gatlinburg, Tennessee on April 17-19.  This is a special weekend planned for just the two of you to get-away for a few days, relax, unwind, and focus on strengthening your marriage relationship.  There will be plenty of free time to roam the streets of Gatlinburg or go for a drive in the mountains.  There will also be inspirational and informative sessions through the weekend that will offer an opportunity to strengthen your marriage.  There is no charge for the conference or materials.  You simply take care of your room ($89 a night+tax) and meals.  The church will cover the materials and meeting room.  The meetings will be at the Edgewater Hotel where we also have a block of rooms set aside.  To reserve your room, contact the hotel at and make your reservations going online  http://edgewater-hotel.com or calling (865) 436-4151.   You may want to stay an extra night or two.  You choose your schedule.  We will plan to have dinner together on Friday evening, April 17 and the last session of the Marriage Retreat will be Sunday morning, April 19.   Watch E-News for more information.

Continue to pray for Brad and Melody Tackett.  Brad had his surgery and is progressing well.  He hopes to come home on Tuesday.

We will kick-off a new outreach effort using the truelife.org website on the Sunday after Easter, April 12.  I encourage you to go to the web site and become familiar with the video resources that are available.  Begin referring friends and family who have questions to watch some of the videos.  Here is one I watched this morning on God’s strength when we suffer:  https://www.truelife.org/videos/help-i-m-suffering

Have a blessed week,
Bro. Tim
