FBC Carthage E-News
February 16, 2015
Good snowy/icy morning,
I hope many of you are
able to be inside this morning and not out on the slippery roads. It looks like it is going to be a good day to
find some indoor projects, catch-up on our Bible readings, and enjoy being with
our families. Do remember those who have
to be out and about as they travel to their destinations.
Due to the weather the
Pregnancy Help Center trip to the TBN taping is canceled for tonight.
Today is President’s Day,
a day we remember and honor Presidents Washington and Lincoln on their
birthdays. It is also a day to remember
to pray for our President Barack Obama as he leads our country. The Apostle Paul writes in 1 Timothy 2:1-2, “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers,
intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, 2 for kings and all who are in authority, that we
may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.” Our president is one in authority and the
scripture urges us to pray for him. Take
a moment right now to pray for President Obama, his heath, his leadership, and his
relationship with Jesus Christ.
Just a reminder of the
importance of Sunday School in the life of our church. Sunday School meets each Sunday at 9:30 AM
and is our primary small-group, Bible teaching organization for all ages. From the youngest infants to our senior
adults, Sunday School has a class for you.
Sunday School is the place where you get to know others on a personal
basis as you share in praying, caring, and fellowshipping with them through the
joys and sorrows of life. I encourage
everyone to plan to be in a Sunday School class this Sunday. Not sure which class to attend, contact me
and I will be glad to point you in the right direction. Better yet, let’s meet before class and I
will introduce you to the teacher and class members.
I
encourage you to check out the video resources available through our partnership
with www.truelife.org. These videos and designed to answer questions
you or those around you may be asking.
Last night we watched the video addressing the question of those who
have never heard of Jesus and their eternal standing before God. You may want to listen through this 5-minute
video explanation and share it with a friend.
You can find it at: https://www.truelife.org/videos/those-who-haven-t-heard.
Be
praying for Brad Tackett today as he has a heart catheterization in preparation
for open heart surgery in a couple of weeks.
The
Senior Adult Fellowship, our ministry with adults 55+, has a new name. This ministry will be called Young at Heart
which reflects the spirit of this ministry.
The Young at Heart meets on the second Tuesday of the month and rotates
between potluck luncheons at the Christian Life Center and luncheon trips to
local restaurants. The next meeting will be a potluck luncheon on Tuesday, March
10 at 11:30 AM.
Have a
blessed week,
