FBC Carthage E-News for December 1, 2014

FBC Carthage E-News
December 1, 2014

Good Morning,

I trust you had a blessed Thanksgiving and a great beginning to the Christmas season.  These two major holidays flow into each other to where one can hardly tell when one ends and the other begins.  This makes for an exciting several weeks as we countdown to Christmas.  In all your preparation, shopping, and planning be sure to keep the focus of your Christmas celebration on Jesus and His birth.  Enjoy the season.  Share His story.

This has been a great week for missions and ministry:
·        Thank you to all who have served this past week to make Thanksgiving and Christmas special.  The Operation Christmas Child boxes were sent off last Monday with 954 (our goal) boxes exactly!  Continue to pray for the shoeboxes as they make their way to the children of the world.

·        Thank you to the Ladies Sunday School Class for organizing, purchasing, packing, and delivering the thanksgiving Boxes last Wednesday.

·        Thank you to Amy Broyles for the amazing Christmas decorations in the Sanctuary and in the front of the church.

·        Thank you to everyone who joined in the Singing on the Steps and the hot chocolate/coffee tent for the Carthage Christmas Parade last night.

·        Thank you for the gifts for Lighthouse Christmas Parties.  We will deliver the gifts to Lighthouse this Tuesday.

This week is also the Week of Prayer for International Missions and the beginning of the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering emphasis.  It is our joy to join together each year in promoting and giving to reaching the people of the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ.  I encourage you to consider the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering as your special gift to Jesus on His birthday.  100% of this offering goes to the missionaries and mission work done through the International Missions Board.  Check out the stories and devotionals for this Week of Prayer emphasis:  http://www.imb.org/main/lottie-moon/weekofprayer.asp?PageNavID=112
