FBC Carthage E-News
November 17, 2014
Good Morning,
As we move into the
Thanksgiving season we will be focusing our attention on the many things we
have to be thankful. In addition to
family, friends, work, good health, etc. I encourage each one to count the many
spiritual blessings you have received from the Lord. Physical blessings are good and for them we
are thankful but they can also be changed very quickly. Death, sickness, job loss, financial
set-backs can take a toll on our feelings of thankfulness. The Spiritual blessings, on the other hand,
are not changing with the change of circumstances. God’s love for you is absolutely constant and
demonstrated through Jesus and His death for you on the cross. God’s grace, mercy, forgiveness, and promises
transcend the passing of time. In your
quiet time this week, write down at least 10 Spiritual blessings you are
thankful for and be ready to share them in your Thanksgiving gatherings. Have a blessed Thanksgiving.
The Ladies Sunday School
Class is collecting money and names for our annual Thanksgiving Food Box
delivery. You can turn in both money and
names through your Sunday School class thru this Sunday, November 23. We will meet in the Christian Life Center on
Tuesday, November 22 at 5:00 PM to pack the boxes and then again on Wednesday,
November 22 at 9:00 AM to deliver the food to families. Everyone is invited to be a part of this
local ministry effort.
Operation Christmas Child
is off to a great start with almost 150 boxes made and brought in so far. This week is the week to finalize any boxes
and bring them by the church on or before Sunday, November 23. Thank you to the Women on Mission for their
work on this project.
This week also begins our
Lighthouse Christian Camp Christmas Drive as we bring gifts for children, teens
and adults to be included in their Christmas Parties. Gifts need to be brought unwrapped by Sunday,
November 30. The Lighthouse Girls
Christmas Party is Saturday, December 6 from 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM. The Boy’s Christmas Party is Saturday,
December 13 from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM. In
addition to blessings for the children, these Christmas parties provide a great
opportunity for you, your family, and your Sunday School Class to have a
blessed Christmas mission experience. The
church bus will be going to each of the parties, carrying children from Smith
County. Riders and pick-up truck drivers
are needed each week. See Bro. Tim for
information.
Please be praying for Matesi
Hess Nuemiller, her husband and baby, Issac Dean Neumiller born yesterday,
about 10 weeks premature. Matesi is Bill
and Kathy Hess’ older daughter, our special friends and partners in mission in
Poplar, Montana.
Have a blessed week,
Bro. Tim
