FBC Carthage E-News
October 6, 2014
Good morning,
It is always exciting to
begin something new and yesterday was the first Sunday of a brand new church
year and what a great first Sunday it was.
Ben Wilmore came during the Invitation to pray and surrender his life to
Jesus Christ. We rejoice with Ben and
his family as he begins this new journey following Jesus Christ as his Savior
and Lord. May Ben be the first of many
who follow Jesus in Salvation this year.
We also began Operation
Andrew, a prayer challenge in which we make a list of people we know who are
not Christians or who are out of church.
Every day we pray for these individuals, look for opportunities to build
relationships, and invite them to church, Sunday School, revival services, etc. I encourage you to keep your list in your
Bible or devotional guide and pray each day.
Invite them to join you for the Fall Revival on November 2-5.
Speaking of the Fall
Revival, we are looking forward to having Brent Gambrell as our
Evangelist and Dave Hunt as our Worship Leader during the week. I ask you to pray for these special services,
praying that God will bring a revived spirit into our hearts individually, into
our church, and ultimately into our community.
During the week of October 26-31 we will have special cottage prayer
meetings in homes to pray and prepare our hearts for the revival services. The
extra emphasis on prayer helps us focus on the fact that revival and the
movement of God on a congregation is in the spiritual realm. We can organize, invite, and plan but what we
need for true revival is the Holy Spirit of God to move in our hearts and
lives. May this older chorus be our
heart cry for revival:
Spirit of the Living God, fall fresh on me.
Spirit of the Living God, fall fresh on me.
Melt me, mold me, fill me, use me.
Spirit of the Living God, fall fresh on me.
In preparation for the
week of Revival services, you can listen to Brent and Dave online:

Thank you John Etheridge
for leading the Defeated Creek Campground service last Sunday. They had 42 people present from the service.
Today is the last day to
register to vote for the November 4 election.
Voting is a very important civic duty and for the Christian, it is
imperative that we vote. Our nation is
moving away from the godly principles and foundation upon which it was founded
and those who have moral convictions are the ones to make a difference. Your vote matters. Early voting begins October 15. To register to vote, go to the Election
Commission office in the Turner Building today.
I remind you again this week of the
opportunity we have to make a true difference in the state of Tennessee through
voting for Amendment 1. This amendment is
an important amendment regarding the health and safety of women and the right
to life. The best explanation of this
Amendment I have seen was in the Baptist and Reflector. You can check it out on pages 3 and 7 of the
virtual newspaper and be informed on this important matter: http://www.myvirtualpaper.com/doc/tennessee-baptist-convention/digital9-24-14/2014092301/?referrer=http%3A//www.tnbaptist.org/BRNews.asp#0
