FBC Carthage E-News for September 29, 2014

FBC Carthage E-News
September 29, 2014

Good Morning,

This weekend was a great time of discovering and/or reaffirming our understanding of the importance of Creation.  I appreciate ministries like the Institute for Creation Research, Answers in Genesis, and others who devote their work to sharing the foundational principles of Creation, the Flood, and the biblical book of Genesis.  Several new creation resources have been purchased for the church library for you to checkout and use in your personal study.  In addition, ICR has a host of free resources available on line:

We turn our attention now toward our Fall Revival, November 2-5.  I encourage each one to begin praying for these special services, praying that God will bring a revived spirit into our hearts individually, into our church, and ultimately into our community.  Brent Gambrell and Dave Hunt will be our leaders for the Fall Revival.  We will have cottage prayer meetings in preparation for the revival services.  We will also be asking each member to identify ten (10) un-churched family and friends to pray for during these weeks leading up to the revival.

FBC Carthage had 11 persons attend the Operation Christmas Child Kick-off last week in Cookeville.  We will be collecting shoe boxes filled with gifts for children around the world and we will serve as a regional collection point again this year.  The FBC Carthage Operation Christmas Child Kick-off will be October 26.

The College Road Trip has begun as Jeff and I travel to the various college cities and visit our many college students.  We had a nice lunch with two of our students last week and plan to be at Tennessee Tech, Cumberland University, and Vol State this week.  Pray for our students as they pursue their degrees and prepare for their working careers.  Many life-changing decisions are made during the college years.

This week is the last full week to register to vote in the November 4 election.  The deadline for registration is next Monday, October 6 and early voting begins October 15.  For full information on registration and voting matters go to www.smithcountyelection.com/info.htm

In addition to voting for state and national officials, there will be several amendments to the Tennessee Constitution on the ballot.  Amendment 1 is an very important amendment regarding the health and safety of women and the right to life.  The Baptist and Reflector had a great article last week on voting Yes to Amendment 1.  Check it out on pages 3 and 7 of the virtual newspaper and be informed on this important matter:  http://www.myvirtualpaper.com/doc/tennessee-baptist-convention/digital9-24-14/2014092301/?referrer=http%3A//www.tnbaptist.org/BRNews.asp#0
