FBC Carthage E-News

FBC Carthage E-News
September 8, 2014

Good Morning,

We rejoice this week with two young ladies who followed the Lord in baptism yesterday in the morning services.  Be praying this week for Hunter Davis and Madysin Griffin as they follow Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.  May the baptistery waters be filled often throughout this new church year as Believers obediently follow Jesus in baptism.

Be praying for the special events coming up in the next couple of months as we reach out into our friends, family, and community and invite them to join us at FBC Carthage.
·        September 21 is “Back to Church Sunday” in which we invite and encourage members and guests to be back in church.
·        September 27-28 is a special “Creation Weekend” with Institute for Creation Research speaker, Frank Sherwin.
·        November 2-5 is or Fall Revival with Brent Gambrell and Dave Hunt.
More details on these events below, including videos introducing our special guests.

This week is the Week of Prayer for Tennessee Missions.  The Tennessee Baptist Convention is involved in many ministry partnerships and new church starts throughout the state.  50% of the Golden State Missions Offering goes for new churches as they are started in our state.  One of the main objectives of the Tennessee Baptist Convention is to assist churches in reaching more people for Jesus Christ.  Randy Davis, our Executive Director for the TBC has set as the number one objective of the convention to assist churches in reaching and baptizing 50,000 people each year in Tennessee Baptist churches.  The Golden State Missions Offering goes to assist ministry partners in reaching this primary goal.  Pray for Tennessee missions and churches and give this next Sunday, September 14 to the Golden State Missions Offering.  For more information on the Golden State Missions Offering go to:  http://vimeo.com/album/2943615

The Nominating Committee will present their recommendations this Wednesday night, September 10 at the monthly business meeting.  There are still a few positions remaining to be filled.  Pray for the Lord to send forth workers into these vital positions.  To find out where you can serve contact Bro. Tim, Michael Collins – AWANA, Mark Dillon – Sunday School, Deborah Bane, or David Eatherly.

This Wednesday, September 10 at 6:30 PM in the monthly business meeting we will also have the initial election of messengers to the Associaltion Annual Meeting, October 26 and the Tennessee Baptist Convention, November 11-12.  If you would like to attend either or both of these meetings as a messenger contact Bro. Tim or be present at the business meeting this Wednesday night.

Thank you to Steve and Cindy Dowell’s Sunday School class for hosting the 5th Quarter Youth Fellowship last Friday night.  The next 5th Quarter will be September 19 and Brad Tackett’s class will be the host.

Have a blessed week and remember to invite someone to join you in the service this Sunday and especially on Back to Church Sunday, September 21.
Bro. Tim

Here’s the news for the week:
1.      The Women on Missions meeting will be tonight, Monday, September 8 at 6:30 PM in the Christian Life Center.  All ladies are invited to attend.

2.      The Senior Adult Fellowship will be Tuesday, September 9 at 11:30 AM in the Christian Life Center.  All adults 55+ are invited and asked to bring a covered dish to share for lunch.

3.       The Men’s Breakfast and work-day projects will resume this Saturday, September 13 at 7:00 AM.  All men are invited for this great breakfast and fellowship.  We will finish up our video study of “A Man and His Design.”  Following breakfast we will have several projects in the church family.

4.     The Backpack Ministry will meet today at 4:30 PM at the Ag Center to pack backpacks.  This ministry provides take-home meals for 100 children in our county each weekend.

5.     Back to Church Sunday will be September 21 as we will join with churches across the USA in inviting people to come “Back to Church”.  Sometimes it is hard to know what to say to someone who has been out for several weeks.  Back to Church Sunday, September 21 is just the answer.  I am asking every Sunday School teacher and class to contact their members and encourage attendance on that day.  I also ask every member to be in attendance on that Sunday and invite someone to come with you.  As the Lord brings friends and family to mind who are not regularly in church, invite them to join us for this special Sunday.  This is a great way to kick-off the new church year and invite our friends and family to join us at FBC Carthage.  Here is a fun video we showed last night to encourage you to invite someone:

6.      The Creation Weekend with Frank Sherwin from the Institute for Creation Research will be held on September 27-28.  On Saturday, September 27 we will meet at 5:00 PM for two sessions and a meal.  Bro. Sherwin will share in the worship services and a combined Sunday School hour on Sunday, September 28.   The topics covered during the weekend sessions will be “War of the Worldviews”, “Genesis: The Foundation”, “Creation Evangelism”, “Scientific Evidence for Creation”, “Noah’s Ark”, and “Mount St. Helens.”   This will be a powerful weekend as we explore and re-affirm the biblical foundation for creation.  Here is more information on the Institute for Creation Research and our speaker, Frank Sherwin.

7.      Our Fall Revival will be November 2-5 with Brent Gambrell, and Dave Hunt.  This team will lead us in worship and evangelistic messages during the Sunday morning services and each evening at 6:30 PM.  Mark these dates on your calendars and begin praying now for a powerful working of God’s Holy Spirit in our lives and in the lives of people in our community.  I need revival.  We need revival.  Our family and friends need revival.  Our community needs revival.
