Our Fall semester of GriefShare is underway on Tuesdays at 6:00 PM at the Chamber of Commerce Building on Upper Ferry Road.  GriefShare is a caring, support group for those who have experienced the loss of a loved one in death.  Everyone is invited and welcome to join in this 12 week study.  The material covered will help you in your journey through grief.

A free, on-line resource for anyone you know who has lost a loved one is the daily email devotionals from GriefShare.  You simply go to http://www.griefshare.org/dailyemails and sign-up for the devotionals.

This Saturday, August 30 is a special fund-raising event at the Ag Center for Izzy Gates and her family.  Izzy is making a remarkable recovery after her 4-wheeler accident and this event is a way we can be of help to her and her family.  “Painting with Izzy” begins at 10:00 AM and lunch and other activities begin at 12:00 Noon.  Join in the festivities as we support and encourage this courageous little girl.

Have a blessed week as you live out your faith,
Bro.  Tim

Here’s the news for the week:
1.      This Friday, August 29 is the first home football game as Smith County High plays Gordonsville.  Following the game we will host the first of our 5th Quarter Youth Fellowships for students, grades 7-12.  We will have games, food, fellowship, and an inspirational devotion.  New this year, we will have special door prize give-a-ways.  This week’s prize is a 42 inch flat-screen television!  Spread the news and invite your friends to join you for this fun evening after the BIG game.  Samantha Upchurch’s Sunday School class will be the lead helpers for the evening.

2.      Next Sunday morning, August 31, we will observe the Lord’s Supper in both morning services.

3.     Next Sunday afternoon, August 31 is a church-wide, covered dish picnic at Crump Paris Park.  Activities will begin around 4:00 PM and the picnic meal at 5:00 PM.  Following the meal we will have our evening service at the pavilion.  We will be next to Kid’s Central playground so bring the kids, a picnic dish, and a lawn chair and join us for a fun-filled evening together.

4.      The Men’s Breakfast and work-day projects will resume on Saturday, September 13 at 7:00 AM.

5.     Sunday, September 21 will be a special day with the focus on “Back to Church Day.”  This is the day for all Sunday School teachers and classes to contact and encourage every member to be back with us at church.  Be making your plans to be at FBC Carthage on Sunday, September 21.

6.     Sunday, September 27-28 will be another special weekend at FBC Carthage as we welcome Frank Sherwin, creation speaker for ICR, Institute for Creation Research.  He will share two session on Saturday evening, September 27 and he will be our special guest in the Sunday services, September 28.  Invite friends to join you for this important and inspirational weekend.
