FBC Carthage E-News for September 22, 2014

FBC Carthage E-News
September 22, 2014

Good morning,

Today is the first official day of Fall (actually at 9:29 PM tonight) and it looks like it is going to be a beautiful day to be out and about.  This is my favorite time of the year as the temperatures cool, the leaves fall, and the holidays approach.  This season is also a traditional time for spiritual revival and renewal in many Christians’ walk with Christ.  The hectic pace of the summer gives way to the steady pace of the fall.  During this season, take time for Jesus.   Daily quiet time, Sunday worship services, Sunday School, Wednesday night services, and other activities help us draw closer to Him.

One specific event which will help us reach out to our community will be our Fall Revival on November 2-5 with Breat Gambrell and Dave Hunt.  Go ahead and put that on your calendar.  Begin now praying for lost and unchurched neighbors, friends, and family you can invite for the special services each evening.

The big event for this week is our Creation Conference, September 27-28 with Frank Sherwin, a speaker for the Institute for Creation Research.  Frank will be sharing the importance of a Biblical foundation in shaping our understanding of our world and our lives.  We will have a special Saturday evening session on September 27 at 5:00 PM followed by a covered dish dinner and a second session at 7:00 PM.  Bring a little extra for dinner, we expect several guests from out of town to be with us.

Bro. Sherwin will speak in each of the services on Sunday, September 28 as well as a combined Sunday School session in the Sanctuary.  He will also have a special presentation with the children in AWANA on Noah’s Ark at 5:30 PM.  This will be a weekend to invite your family and friends to join you again.  Here is an interview with Frank Sherwin on Creation Today:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A8uMO8vbmwo

Thank you for the many birthday greetings this past week.  A birthday is a good time to reflect on the goodness of the Lord and focus on His call and direction for the future.  I enjoyed spending time last week in Texas, visiting my older daughter, Jill at Texas A&M University.  Thanks again for the many kind words and thoughts for my birthday.

Last night in the evening service we studied Jesus’ teaching on the Kingdom of Heaven.  Here is a great music video you will enjoy from the group Rend Collective entitled “Build Your Kingdom Here: ”  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sbdJXKqVgtg

Have a blessed week as you invite your friends to join you for our Creation Conference this coming weekend,
Bro. Tim
