FBC Carthage E-News for August 18, 2014

FBC Carthage E-News
August 18, 2014

Good morning,

The saying “There’s no place like home” is exactly how I feel this morning.  It is exciting to travel on vacation and mission trips but it is such a blessing to be back home, sleep in your own bed, and get back to a fairly normal routine.  It’s great to be back in Carthage.

The Mission New York City 2014 trip was a great blessing to me and all who participated. It was very eye-opening and amazing, especially for those who had never been to New York City.  It masses of people, the rush of the subways, and the tall buildings still catch my breath after visiting several times.  We worked with New City Church which serves in the Queens borough of New York City.  The church presently meets in the Community Room of a large high-rise apartment building located on the East River.  It is a spectacular setting and the view of Manhattan is fabulous.  Their strategy is to be a Christian church that expresses grace and peace to the community.  They do that through partnering with need organizations in the community through which they build relationships and meet the people on their “turf.”  I appreciate the mission team the Lord put together for this trip.  We had a blessed week and I am looking forward to additional trips and ministry with New City Church.  Christy Dyer, our main contact person for the trip, will be back in Tennessee for three weeks and will have a special reception and sharing time at Stevens Street Baptist Church in Cookeville next Tuesday, August 26 at 6:00 PM.   She would love to visit with you and share more of the vision and work of New City Church.

We rejoice with Josh Lynn on his call as Youth Minister to a Baptist church in Harriman.  It is exciting to see our children and youth grow up and serve the Lord in missions and ministry.  FBC Carthage voted in the last business meeting to license Josh as a preacher of the gospel.  He will preach in the evening service this Sunday, August 24 at 6:00 PM.  Pray for Josh as he begins his ministry in this new church field.

Speaking of rejoicing, we wish Elisha High a very Happy 100th Birthday this Saturday, August 23.  Pray for Mr. Elisha on his special day.

The Nominating Committee will begin their work this week in preparation for the 2014-15 church year that begins in October.  Sunday School and AWANA have already begun the process as their new year has already begun.  Be praying about where the Lord would have you serve and minister at FBC Carthage.

This is a great week to live for Jesus in your circle of influence.  Let’s make a difference in someone’s life this week.
Bro. Tim
