Greeting
from Montana,
We
have had a great start to Mission Montana 2014.
We arrived in Poplar, Montana in the early afternoon on Saturday and
unloaded. Several of the team members
cut grass, trimmed shrubbery, put away supplies for the week and began getting
ready for the week ahead. We helped with
the Children’s Breakfast on Sunday and then attended the morning service. Brad Tackett preached and several participated
in the service. After a delicious
church-wide covered dish dinner we distributed cookies and invitations to the
homes in Poplar. Following the
visitation was a clothes give-a-way that was extremely well attended. Projects, prayer and Vacation Bible School
filled the day on Monday and will continue through Wednesday. We had 143 children in VBS on Monday. There will be a community-wide feast and
carnival on Tuesday evening. Please pray
for the Mission Montana team as we continue to minister to the people in
Poplar, Montana.
A
great way to keep up with the Mission Montana 2014 Team is on the Mission
Montana FaceBook page. It has many
pictures of the work being done. Check
it out at https://www.facebook.com/groups/638955756131850/.
Thank
you to Richard Petty, Stephen Russell, Janet Bailey and all who served this
past Sunday in our absence. I look
forward to being back this weekend and seeing you in the services. We will observe the Lord’s Supper in both
morning services.
Our
upcoming mission efforts include the Backyard Bible Clubs each Tuesday at
Project Circle, our ministry booth at the Smith County Fair, Mission
Cincinnati, and Mission New York City.
This
is the week we remember our national birthdate and celebrate the 4th
of July. In the midst of all the fun and
food, take time to pray for our nation, thanking the Lord for the United States
of America and asking Him to draw us closer to Him.
Have
a blessed week,
Bro.
Tim
Here’s
the news for the week:
1.
One more reminder
to be praying for the Mission Montana 2014 Team, June 26-July 5. We have a team of 22 people from 6 different
churches. This is the largest team we
have taken to Poplar, Montana for a mission project. Our main objective will be conducting
Vacation Bible School with the Native American children and having various
community events each evening. Your
prayers will make the difference in our mission efforts. Please “hold the rope” through prayer.2. A local mission opportunity happens each Tuesday at 4:30 PM at the Community Room in the Project Circle Apartments. Anna Maxwell, our Summer Intern leads a Backyard Bible Club for the children of the neighborhood. You can help with crafts, games, and refreshments. Come and be a part of this weekly ministry right here in Carthage.
3. We will observe the Lord’s Supper on July 6 in both morning services.
4. FBC Carthage will be hosting the service at Defeated Creek Campground this Sunday, July 6 at 8:30 AM. Mark Dillon will be leading this service.
5. The Church Council and Deacons will meet this Sunday, July 6. Church Council at 4:30 PM and Deacons at 7:00 PM.
6. It is only three weeks to the Church Camp-Out at Defeated Campground, July 25-27. The church has reserved 8 spots and they are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. The church is providing the camp sites for you to enjoy the weekend with others from FBC Carthage. The early service will be moved to the Defeated Creek Pavilion for that Sunday morning, July 27 at 8:30 AM. All other services will be held at normal times.
7. The Smith County Fair will be July 28-August 2. FBC Carthage will have a Ministry Booth again this year as an outreach to the community. Anna Maxwell, our Summer Intern, will help coordinate this ministry opportunity through the Sunday School classes. Discuss which night of the fair you would like to serve as a ministry team and let Anna know. We will have similar activities as we have in years past.
