FBC Carthage E-News
June 23, 2014
Good Morning,
We are still getting
reports of people not receiving the weekly E-News. I apologize for all the challenges we have
had and am hopeful to have it up and received by everyone very soon. If you do not receive E-News please let us
know at 735-1929 and we will continue to work with our web provider to remedy
the situation. E-News is the main news
source of activities and ministries of FBC Carthage. Thank you for your time and attention each
week as you read and are informed.
It was a joy to baptize
four people yesterday in the morning services.
We rejoice with Hayden Bush, Ean Jones, Dylan Thaxton, and Candace
Thaxton as they followed the Lord Jesus obediently through baptism. Please pray for these new believers as they
learn and grow in their faith.
This is the week for our
Mission Montana team to travel to Poplar, Montana and work with the First
Baptist Church of Poplar. We will
conduct Vacation Bible School and special events each evening. There are also a few construction/renovation
projects this year. Please be in prayer
with the team for the follow:
·
Pray for safe
travels for the van, bus, and private car.
·
Pray for good
health for the team.
·
Pray for God’s
Holy Spirit to use the VBS to share the gospel
·
Pray for children
and adults to be saved
·
Pray for safety
in the construction projects
·
Pray for the
community events to reach many families
·
Pray for FBC
Poplar as they seek a new Pastor
Continue to pray for Jerry
Wilmore as he continues his treatments.
As the Lord brings him to your mind, stop and pray. That might be just the moment he needs your
prayers the most.
Last night’s message
focused on telling your story, your Christian testimony story. Here are a few thoughts in the process:
·
Every believer
has a story to tell.
·
People without a
saving faith in Jesus need to know Him.
·
Write your
testimony down and prepare to share it.
Be ready.
·
Keep it short and
to the point. 3-5 minutes is a good
length.
·
The following
outline may help you gather your thoughts:
My life before trusting Jesus.
How I trusted Jesus and became a
Christian.
My life after trusting Jesus.
Have a blessed week as you
tell your story and serve the Lord,
Bro. Tim
Here’s the news for the
week:
1.
One more reminder
to be praying for the Mission Montana 2014 Team, June 26-July 5. We have a team of 22 people from 6 different
churches. This is the largest team we
have taken to Poplar, Montana for a mission project. Our main objective will be conducting
Vacation Bible School with the Native American children and having various
community events each evening. Your
prayers will make the difference in our mission efforts. Please “hold the rope” through prayer.
2.
A local mission
opportunity happens each Tuesday at 4:30 PM at the Community Room in the
Project Circle Apartments. Anna Maxwell,
our Summer Intern leads a Backyard Bible Club for the children of the neighborhood. You can help with crafts, games, and
refreshments. Come and be a part of this
weekly ministry right here in Carthage.
3.
We will observe the Lord’s Supper on July 6 in
both morning services.
4.
The youth had a
great meeting yesterday in preparation for Student Life Camp at Daytona Beach,
July 13-19. Be praying for life-changing
experiences for the youth and adults as they attend.
5.
Bible Pathways
Bible reading guides for July are available in the front foyer and in the
Connection Point.
6.
Don’t forget to
make plans to join us for the Church Camp-Out at Defeated Campground, July
25-27. The church has reserved 8 spots
and they are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. The church is providing the camp sites for
you to enjoy the weekend with others from FBC Carthage. The
early service will be moved to the Defeated Creek Pavilion for that Sunday
morning, July 27 at 8:30 AM. All other
services will be held at normal times.
7.
Anna Maxwell
shared in last night’s service of her recent mission trip to Haiti. Look on her Facebook page or the First
Baptist Church Carthage Facebook page for the pictures from her trip.
8.
Here is a great
song Anna shared with her slides that may be the theme for our Summer Missions
2015 emphasis: “Do Something.”

observations that can help us improve VBS in coming years. We tried a couple of “new” ideas this year
and are interested in your input. You
can copy these questions and place them in an email with your thoughts. Email the evaluations to tfrank@fbccarthage.com. Use this set of questions to guide your
