FBC Carthage E-News
February 25, 2014
Good Tuesday Morning,
I apologize for the
day-delay of the E-news for this week.
Jeff and I were in Atlanta, Georgia yesterday for a one day church
leadership conference called Catalyst with Pastors Andy Stanley and Craig
Groeschel. Pastor Andy is Charles
Stanley’s son and the Pastor of North Point Community Church in Alpharetta
which has around 36,000 in attendance in five campuses around the city. Pastor Craig is the Pastor of LifeChurch.tv
in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
LifeChurch.tv is considered the
largest church in the United States with 15 campuses in five states. It was a busy and information-packed day but
we gained many great leadership principles from these two strong church
leaders. You can check out their
ministries at:
LifeChurch.tv http://www.lifechurch.tv/
This Sunday, March 2 begins
the week of prayer for North American missions.
The North American Mission Board has over 5,000 missionaries serving
throughout the United States and Canada.
The primary focus is starting new churches. Zeke and Layne Tomaselli are two of our NAMB missionaries
working in Hilo, Hawaii to start Ohana Church.
They had their second preview service this past Sunday with 85 in
attendance! It is exciting to be a part
of this new church start. Fran and I
will be traveling to work with Zeke and Layne in March. We look forward to visiting with them and
seeing the exciting things the Lord is doing in this new church. Pray for all
our NAMB missionaries as they share the good news of the gospel of Jesus
Christ.
Be praying for several of
our mission partners this week:
·
We received this
note from Pastor Hamisi from Ridgeways Baptist Church in Nairobi, Kenya:The last two weeks have been tough for the church family in Ridgeways. We lost a Patriarch and founder of our Baptist churches in Kenya- Late Rev. Morris Wanje( father our senior Pastor Elijah Wanje). If that was not enough we lost our Sound Man brother Mae Zero in a tragic accident enroute to the funeral. Looking at the lives of these two brothers one can say that they have finished their race, kept their faith, fought a good fight and the only thing Waiting for them is a crown of righteousness. Although these two men did not serve in the same sphere of influence, nevertheless they each played a key role in making Christ glorified. As we mourn we mourn as ones who have faith in the one who is the resurrection and life. Finally let's be encouraged that death is not a cessation of life as Christians, but a transition from an unforgiving world to the presence of our Maker and savior Jesus Christ.
· Pray for Michal Deaver and her medical/dental mission team as they leave this Friday, February 28 for ministry in the Dominican Republic. Pray for safety in travel and great success in sharing the love and message of Jesus. She is traveling with a mission team from SCORE International which sends short term mission teams throughout the world. Check them out at: http://www.scoreintl.org
* Pray for the Inuit people in Nunavut, Canada. They are our Unreached People Group and let’s not neglect to pray that God will open the door for them to receive the gospel. As we continue to pray and seek ways to reach into that land, we trust God is already working in the people. Pray for workers to be sent into that harvest field.
· Pray for Poplar, Montana and the work of First Baptist Church Poplar. We are planning a return mission trip on June 26-July 5 and have need of many more team members. We will be conducting Vacation Bible School and working in other ministry areas. Be a part of this year’s team to the Native Americans in Poplar.
One
more prayer request for the week, this Thursday, February 27 is a day of prayer
to raise awareness and end slavery in the United States and around the
world. “End It Movement” has chosen the
27th as a day of prayer and awareness of the 27 million persons who
are enslaved throughout the world. It is
hard to imagine that today, 2014, there are more people in slavery than at any
other time in the history of mankind. Let us be aware of the great need and shine a
light on those in slavery. For more
information check out www.enditmovement.com/learn
Have a blessed week as you follow Jesus,
Bro. Tim
