FBC Carthage E-News for February 17, 2014

FBC Carthage E-News
February 17, 2014

Happy President’s Day,

Many have this day off from work and school to enjoy a variety of activities.  Jeff and the Youth have an Airsoft day that will be fun and exciting.  Others will spend the day visiting family and friends, or maybe some shopping.  The day, however, is set aside to remember and honor our Presidents, specifically our first President, George Washington (his birthday is February 22).  Today, in addition to all you have planned for the day, pause for a moment and thank the Lord for the leaders He has allowed to serve these United States.  Also, ask Him to lead, guide, and direct our current President, Barack Obama.  As Christians we are to pray for our President regardless of political party or what we think of his leadership.  He is the President and he needs our prayers as he leads this nation.  Happy President’s Day!

Speaking of prayer, be praying for Michal Deaver and her upcoming mission trip to Dominican Republic.  Also, pray for Fran and I as we plan to minister with  Zeke and Layne Tomaselli in March as they work in Hilo, Hawaii to start Ohana Church.

The Couple’s Dinner was a fun evening as we enjoyed a delicious meal (Thanks Becky!), laughed with the humorous videos, and shared keys to communication in marriage.  Our marriages are of vital importance to the strength and life of our church.  Take time to strengthen your marriage.  Spend time with your spouse.  Go on a date together.  Continually build the relationship bonds within your marriage relationship.  Mark your calendars for a special Marriage Weekend on April 4-5 titled “The Art of Marriage.”  This Friday evening and Saturday event will be held in the Christian Life Center and will help each of us build a strong and healthy marriage.  Watch for more information as the date gets closer.

I am excited as GriefShare begins tomorrow night at 6:00 PM at the Chamber of Commerce building on Upper Ferry Road.  This 13 week grief support group is open to everyone and I believe will be a great ministry to those who have lost a loved one.  Here is a short video explaining the GriefShare ministry:

Congratulations to Betsy Trainham (#7) and Breanna Gregory (#8) for making this year’s Top 10 graduates at Smith County High School.

Last night in the service we showed a moving testimony of Nick Vujicic, born with no arms or legs.  Listen as he shares how God is using him to share the good news of Jesus:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tl58qufXfYk

Have a blessed week as you live for Jesus.
Bro. Tim
